David Arquettes souper charity collection

Actor David Arquette has asked his wife Courteney Cox and her Cougar Town co-stars to help donate to his charity fundraising.

Arquette, 37, is travelling the US as a spokesperson for the Cheesecake Factory’s Drive Out Hunger Tour, which aims to collect 100,000 cans of soup to support local food banks.

As Arquette was driving through Los Angeles as part of the appeal, he reportedly stopped at the ABC network’s studios to collect donations from his actress wife, Cox, 45.

But the former Friends star was not the only celebrity to contribute to the appeal – Arquette also managed to get donations at the studios from Cox’s Cougar Town co-star Busy Philipps and Scrubs star Zach Braff.

George Clooney gets ER going with 2 million viewers

ER closes with a big bang thanks to George Clooney who was able to attract an estimated two million viewers last week. This was the number of viewers added up to the previous week’s statistcis prior to George Clooney’s guetsing. The long-running television show is winding up its final episode on April 2 after airing over 300 episodes for over 15 years. George Clooney started his career in ER until he ledt the medical drama in 1999 to film hit movies like Ocean’s 11. Joining him are other original ER cast members including Julianna Margulies, Noah Wyle and Eriq La Salle. Preliminary estimates by Nielsen show that viewers of the ER episode with George Clooney generated a total of 11.8 million.

Adoring fans were delighted when George clooney donned the scrubs once again for a reprise of his role as Dr. Doug Ross. George Clooney left the show supposedly to work in Seattle but he was back to convince Thelma and Louise star Susan Sarandon to donate her brain-dead grandson’s organs unknowingly to Dr. Carter who is played here by Noah Wyle.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie Make a Donation

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie take this Goodwill Ambassador stuff pretty seriously. And you have to admire them for giving away money…

Through their Jolie-Pitt Foundation, they are giving $1 million to the Education Partnership for Children of Conflict. The money goes to American and Iraqi children who suffer from the war.

Angelina says, “These educational support programs for children of conflict are the best way to help them heal.” Brad says, “We hope to encourage others to give to these great organizations.”

Jordin’s Fight Night

American Idol alum Jordin Sparks sang at Fight Night XIV which was held at the JW Marriott Resort in Phoenix on Saturday. Muhammad Ali and his wife Lonnie hosted the event which was attended by celebrities and entertainers at the 14th annual event for the fight against Parkinson’s disease. Dozens of athletes and celebrities were there, including Whitney Houston, Grant Hill, Shaquille O’Neal, Tony Hawk, Vince Young, Michael Johnson and Ray Lewis. Throughout Celebrity Fight Night’s history, over $45 million has been raised. Jordin may not be on ‘Idol Gives Back’ but she’s still doing a lot of good on her time.

Madonna in Malawi

Madonna is set to be in Malawi next week for what may be the final court ruling on whether or not she can finalize the adoption of her son David Banda. The Queen of Pop began the adoption process back in 2006 after meeting David in a local orphanage in Malawi. In February of this year, the Malawian Information Minister Patricia Kaliati, praised Madonna’s efforts to raise awareness of gathering support for orphans. She went on to say that it would be wrong if Madonna gets denied of the adoption. Madonna will be flying in to Malawi on Tuesday as reported by a senior official at Lilongwe International Airport.

Simon Cowell is a Guardian Angel – American Idol

Believe it or not, American Idol’s resident meanie actually does have a heart. A family in Minnesota know this better than most of us.

Randy and Amy Stoen went on Oprah to talk about their daughter Madelaine’s medical condition. She has a rare form of facial cancer. A friend told Simon Cowell about it, and he paid their mortgage off. Wow.

He actually went on Oprah’s show himself to tell them. He said, I know that you’re having problems with your mortgage. And as of this afternoon, your mortgage has been paid off. If there’s any problems, you know, I’m a guardian angel now.”

Baby Boy for Christina Aguilera

Congrats to new mom Christina Aguilera and pop Jordan Bratman. They welcomed baby boy Max Liron on Saturday night at 10:05 pm. This is their first child.

Their rep says, “Christina and Jordan are proud to announce the birth of their son Max Liron Bratman. He a beautiful, healthy baby boy!” He was 20.5 inches long and weighed 6 pounds, 2 ounces.

Christina later posted on her webpage, “Today is a very joyful and special day for Jordan and I as we welcome our first son into this world.”

Baby Boom

I swear 2008 is set to be a baby boom year – there are pregnancies absolutely everywhere at the moment. Almost every other day a new celebrity announces that they are expecting. Happy news all around of course, but weird nonetheless.

Celebrity pregnancy of the day is ex-eastender Tamzin Outhwaite. The TV beauty, who is married to actor Tom Ellis, is four months pregnant with her first child. It comes as no surprise really; the 37 year old has previously expressed her desire to become a mother, saying: “Having children is my biggest dream. I’d be happy not to work again and look after the children.”

Tamzin’s spokesman confirmed the news. A source said: “Tamzin and Tom are both over the moon.”

Hay Good Looking – Elle MacPherson

Stunning Aussie model Elle MacPherson was snapped sunning herself in a straw hat on a Sydney beach recently; flaunting a body most 25 year olds would die for.

Wearing a string bikini, Elle (nicknamed The Body) was promoting her new range of tanning lotion, and looked barely a day older than when she posed in a nautical suit 14 years ago.

Just to rub it in, the mum of two told how she manages to look so hot and have perfect skin. She said: “It’s our responsibility to protect ourselves from anything that harms our bodies. I tan safely.”

Well I hope when I reach 44 years of age I look half as good. Big applause goes to the gorgeous Elle.

Madonna Isn’t Genuine

Reuters’ had a celebrity do-gooder poll for 2007 which saw Angelina Jolie win for both her work as a UN goodwill ambassador and raising awareness of suffering in Africa. On the bottom of the list is the Queen of Pop Madonna. She was voted the least respected celebrity altruist because of claims she used her fame and wealth to circumvent Malawian adoption rules.

Director of the Feinstein International Famine Center at Tufts University explains this saying “People aren’t stupid. They can really sense when it’s just an endorsement and when somebody really means it. Someone like Angelina Jolie comes across as having more integrity than some celebrities and a greater sense that she doesn’t just do this for the publicity.”

Possible Twin Mum will hibernate – Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lopez, who is five months pregnant, is said to be so freaked out by the amount of weight she has gained that she plans to follow in the footsteps of Victoria Beckham and hibernate for the last few months.

A source claims that the fact she has already gained 42lbs and her face has become very puffy from water retention that she wishes to put her career on hold until the baby is born in the spring. We won’t be seeing much of her from now on.

Oh to be able to hide from the world whenever you feel like it. Us normal expectant mothers have to go shopping for the imminent baby and every day things so the world can see how unattractive and whale like we have become.

Well at least I’m not carrying two; which it seems our J-Lo may be after being seen purchasing matching pink and blue outfits as well as requesting everything on the baby list in pairs.

Lindsay Lohan Ready to Grow Up

I never thought I’d utter these words, but Lindsay Lohan has said, “My life is different now….It was time to grow up.”

The statement came Friday morning when Lindsay called a Las Vegas radio station and ended up talking to the hosts of Mix 94.1 FM’s morning show. She called to try and win Hannah Montana tickets for a friend’s neices; the station was giving tickets to people who could get celebrities to call and chat.

Linsay said, “I think my life is different now, and it’s changed, and I’m growing up.” She says getting into rehab is the reason she’s been plastered in the headlines lately

She discussed her current plans in the studio as far as her music goes. Not much in the works for the big screen. Lindsay did mention planning a humanitarian trip to Africa.

It’s about time she think of someone else….

Victoria Beckham Rubs It In

Victoria Beckham recently went face-to-face with Larry King on CNN for his show Larry King Live. On the show, she talked about her sleeping arrangements with husband David. As we all know, the Beckhams sleep naked. And as Posh explains it “A lot of women would understand that if they were getting in bed with David Beckham.” Now that’s just rubbing salt in the wound!

Posh also addressed several rumors. Most notable of which are the ones about Scientology which she says are not true, and the pregnancy rumors which she also says are not true. But who really knows? They might already be working on it.

Hayden Speaks Out About Body Image

While speaking at The Weather Channel’s Forecast Earth Summit, Hayden Panettiere took a minute to address the pressures young girls face regarding body issue. She made mention of the unflattering remarks made about Jennifer Love Hewitt’s bikini photos.

“Did you see TMZ the other day where I bent over and they took a picture of me, and there was a whole converstaion on whether I had cottage cheese thighs or not? It makes me feel awful. I’m sorry, but no woman looks good under overhead lighting. It was not good lighting.” she said.

Hayden blames remarks like these for causing girls to become obsessed with body issues. “I’m a teenage girl and I have the same body issues. There are parts of my body that I do not mind, and there’re parts of my body that I absolutely can’t stand. And I don’t need somebody pointing them out to me, because trust me, I know they’re there. You don’t need to tell anyone else about it. It doesn’t need to be strewn across a magazine. It’s my business. And the fact that you don’t have anything better to talk about than my thigh fat is absolutely absurd. It just goes to show you the pathetic people in this world.”

PETA Gets Eva Mendes Naked

PETA has scored a mega HOT deal on this one. Eva Mendes has agreed to be the newest celebrity spokesperson for PETA, posing for their “I’d rather go naked than wear fur” campaign.Previous models include Alicia Silverstone, Christina Applegate, Christy Turlington, and Pamela Anderson. Eva will strip down in opposition of fur.

Eva says she wore fur once – to her very first movie premiere. Her stylist sent it, and she says she “ignorantly wore it.”

After that she received from PETA a “beautiful letter to comment on my less-than-educated choice. I was so impressed that I vowed to them and myself to never wear real fur…again.”

Hayden Panettiere is NOT Lindsey Lohan

You see her face everywhere these days. The paparazzi love to catch her. But they won’t catch her acting like some other female celebs these days.

Hayden Panettiere wants to make it clear that she’s in a different class. “For God knows what reason, they compare me with Lindsey Lohan, ” she says. She wants to prove otherwise.

Hayden wants to show a better image to young women who she knows will look up to her. She says, “I think that, now more than ever, young girls need a good role model.” She hopes she can be that good role model.

Donny and Marie Back Together

It’s been a while since we all saw Donny and Marie Osmond take the stage together. But the celebrity siblings have announced that they are reuniting to perform together again for a show at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas from July 17-23, 2008. Donny told ET that he and Marie can hardly wait for it.

The two entertainers have been through an emotional year which brought them even closer together. This time brought them to the realization that it’s time to relive the magic of their days on their TV show but this time, with a touch of Vegas.

Miley Cyrus on Oprah

You know you’ve really made it big at 14 years of age when Oprah invites you on her show. Disney star Miley Cyrus of the popular show Hannah Montana was a guest on The Oprah Winfrey Show and talked about dating… with her dad sitting right beside her!

When asked about whether Miley was allowed to date, Miley said that she was allowed but that her dad acts weird about it. She told a story of how when a guy visited her at home, her dad was standing in the kitchen looking out at them with the dog right beside him. Billy Ray Cyrus tries to play it off and said that he wasn’t spying but Oprah knew otherwise.

Miley then capped off the show by singing ‘The Best of Both Worlds’.

Holiday Movie Goers are Enchanted

Hollywood finally rolled out of its slump with strong movie attendance over the Thanksgiving holiday. Disney’s fairy tale romance Enchanted debuted as number 1 and took in $35.3 over the weekend and a whopping $50.05 million since its release on Wednesday.

The movie features actress Amy Adams as a cartoon princess who is banised to the real-world by her fiance’s evil stepmother, played by Susan Sarandon. The princess finds herself in busy Manhattan.

Also featured in the movie are cuties Patrick Dempsey (Grey’s Anatomy’s McDreamy) and James Marsden.

This was the second-best Thanksgiving holiday debut ever, topped only by another Disney favorite, Toy Story 2, which brough in a record $80.1 million. Rounding out the top five Thanksgiving debuts are additional Disney releases, Unbreakable, A Bug’s Life, and 101 Dalmations.

Hollywood has seen a decrease in movie attendance over the last two months, but this weekend’s stellar performances give them great hope for the rest of the year.

I haven’t made it out to see the film yet, but who can resist a good love story? Especially if I get to look at McDreamy for 2 hours!

Nicole Richie and Joel Madden Start Charity

A very pregnant Nicole Richie and her beau Joel Madden have started a non-profit organization to help mothers in need. Richie and Madden are planning a baby shower this Sunday at a private home and they’ve asked guests to bring cribs, strollers, and stuffed animals to donate to the new Richie Madden Children’s Foundation. They don’t need shower gifts because they’re rich, so why not use their celebrity status to help those in need. Maybe they never really gave new mothers much of a thought before, but now since Nicole knows what all new motherhood is going to entail, she wants to help. Good for her! God bless Joel, Nicole, their baby, and their foundation! Everyone says and everyone would agree that charity begins at home, so for these two if they want to set an example then they should start off by donating what ever they have, obviously not the full things but the small things that they can spare and that’s how charity begins. Why ask someone else and your guest to bring so that they can donate it?
