After a bit of a detour to make room for Arcade Fire, Eminem, is back at the number one spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart. To date, the rapper’s album ‘Recovery’ has sold 2.1 million copies and no one since Susan Boyle has an artist spent so many weeks in the top spot. Eminem is also the only other artist, behind Lady Antebellum, to cross the double platinum line this year. Eminem should definitely be proud of that. At a time when the music industry is suffering, achieving double platinum status is definitely a big achievement. Congratulations on all the success!
Lady Gaga wants to have a song recorded with Susan Boyle on her next album. Though she finished recording her album, Lady Gaga would not refuse to make a duet with Susan Boyle and it seems that a first step towards this collaboration has already been made. In the past, Lady Gaga expressed her admiration for Susan, saying that she’s one of her favorite persons because she achieved in one year what others do in a lifetime. Susan Boyle said she’s de very happy to make a duet with her, and joked about even wearing a hat with a telephone on it.
It sure didn’t take her too long to make an acting career for herself. It seems the Scottish singing sensation is currently lined-up for the 25th anniversary production of “Les Miserables”. This is what a source said about Susan Boyle’s new career opportunity: The tenth anniversary of the show was released as a video and CD. They are keen to do the same for the quarter century.” Well, well, it sure seems like Susan Boyle has her work cut out for her. What’s next: TV show, judge on a “talent show”… oh, the sheer number of possibilities and fortunes that may befall her.
Susan Boyle has cancelled her Australian tour so that she can rest before recording her follow up album to the international success ‘I Dreamed a Dream’. The singer’s representatives think that she needs a breather after the rigorous promo tours in the US and Japan before going back into the studio. The YouTube sensation’s manager said “Regrettably, we have had to make the tough decision to postpone our Australian visit for the Logies in May. We want to apologize to all Susan’s Australian fans and look forward to coming to Australia later in the year.” Sony Music might be using this time to get the record out by November to capitalize on the Christmas season.
Nigel “Nasty” Lythgoe has made cruel jibes about singer Susan Boyle and said she looks like Shrek’s older sister.
The 60-year-old So You Think You Can Dance judge insulted Boyle’s appearance after saying she had been “made to look like a fool” in the public eye.
Lythgoe spoke to Oxford Union about Boyle’s rapid rise to fame.
He said: “I don’t think she’s ready for it. It’s quite frightening. It’ll affect all shows like this if something happens to her or to someone else who has been made to look like a fool.”
Lythgoe then described her as “looking a little bit like Shrek’s older sister with trainer caterpillars for eyebrows”.
Susan Boyle likened her life before fame to the historic portrait, Whistler’s Mother.
The 1871 oil painting by American artist James McNeill Whistler aptly depicts the kind of rocking chair life the 49-year-old suddenly famous Boyle led before she was discovered on Britain’s Got Talent.
The UK Sun newspaper reports Boyle said: “Oh for goodness sake! I looked like Whistler’s Mother! I do scrub up well. Once I’ve got the false teeth in and the hair, you know, I’m fine.”
Boyle’s new hair is a sleek auburn do that works well on television. The millionaire singer who once lived with her mother in a Scottish council flat now employs a personal stylist, make-up artist and hairdresser.
Boyle’s first royalty cheque for her record-breaking debut album, I Dreamed A Dream, was a hefty £4million ($6million).
Boyle in the recent television interview also said she still liked to take the bus. “Well if you don’t want to walk, you catch the bus,” she said.
Adam Lambert recently slammed Susan Boyle saying that the YouTube sensation’s debut single, the cover of the Rolling Stones’ ‘Wild Horses’ made him cry with laughter. The American Idol alum talked about Susan’s album to Britain’s Gay Times saying “If only it weren’t for Susan Boyle! I’m happy for her success, but that album is terrible. ‘Wild Horses’ is the one that made me laugh the hardest. I just died when I heard it, I was crying with laughter. It was the most horrendous, sacrilegious treatment of that song! Still, when my album charted, it was validating. I was feeling a bit attacked, like I had to vindicate something. I thought: ‘Wow, look what I did.’” Someone sounds very jealous!
Just because you get a #1 album in the UK and the US doesn’t mean that you get any special treatment. It seems that Susan Boyle will not get a nomination for the Brit Awards this year and it’s all Simon Cowell’s fault. According to The Daily Mail, the snub is a veiled attack on the music mogul. A source says “She’s not even shortlisted for Best Female, even though that’s usually the weakest category. And it’s not just an attack on Susan. It also shows how Simon Cowell is regarded by many in the record business. It’s disgusting. She has done more for the British record industry this year than anyone else. The problem for the Brits is they’re supposed to be a celebration of British music – and cool. And, whatever anyone thinks of Susan Boyle, she certainly isn’t cool.” Like there’s anything cooler than bringing your country recognition.
It seems success always comes with a price, doesn’t it? After taking the US by storm with her new album, Susan Boyle had another breakdown when she was presented with a quilt made by people from 28 different countries at a café in New York. Apparently Susan Boyle started sucking on her thumb and then sobbing, but snapped out of that state and afterwards started dancing. However, her spokesman assured that nothing is out of the ordinary: “She was just overjoyed and extremely touched with the reception she had had from everyone in America.” Susan Boyle probably just needs a bit of practice for the fame and glory and mental illness that comes with them… where is Simon Cowell when you need him?
Well, it seems Dick Dastardly is still up to his devious deeds… or no, wait, it’s Simon Cowell who’s doing the deeds. After leaving obscurity and traveling to the center of the spotlight on a bumpy road that included a nervous breakdown, Susan Boyle has inspired Simon Cowell to make a movie about her tumultuous road to success. The movie will be entitled “I dreamed a dream: The Susan Boyle story” and it’s going to be aired in December. Well, it didn’t take him long to get it all produced… Simon Cowell really does work fast, doesn’t he? So this is where you get after finishing the college known as “Britain’s Got Talent”.
Britain’s Got Talent star Susan Boyle is feeling confident about her trip to the US.
The 48-year-old is set to perform on the season finale of America’s Got Talent.
Boyle’s brother Gerry said: “She is in a great place right now and very confident about her career at this point, as her new album apparently sounds excellent.”
X Factor judge Simon Cowell has also given Boyle a boost of confidence.
Gerry added: “Simon Cowell is going to meet with her in America and he has assured us that he will do everything he can to protect Susan and to promote her in the correct fashion. I know Simon has a surly reputation but I think he is a very trust-worthy person who has my sister’s best interests at heart.”
Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden has revealed that Prince Harry isn’t a fan of fellow judge Piers Morgan.
Amanda, 38, met the young British royal earlier this year at his father Prince Charles’ birthday celebration.
She said, “Prince Harry came over and said to me: ‘Is Piers Morgan really a prat?’
I said: ‘You can’t say that… but yes.’ He even told me he records Britain’s Got Talent every week on Sky+!”
She also revealed that other members of the British royal family are fans of the ITV talent show.
The former Wild At Heart star said, “Charles came over to me and said: ‘You do the show with the buzzers, don’t you?’ I said: ‘Yes. I didn’t even know you watched the telly! If you came on our show, what would you do? Can you juggle?’
“Charles replied: ‘Oh no, I can’t do anything.’ To which Camilla added: ‘Yes, I can vouch for that – he’s not talented.’”
Simon Cowell has admitted Susan Boyle made him look “stupid” and has said sorry for the way he treated her at first.
The judge made the apology as Susan sailed into the final of Britain’s Got Talent.
She reduced judge Amanda Holden to tears with her rendition of Memory and got the most public votes in the first live semi-final of the talent contest.
She is now one step closer to her dream of performing in front of the Queen.
Giving her a standing ovation after her performance, Cowell said: “Susan, you are one special lady I have to say, you really are. And you know what, I just want to apologise because of the way we treated you before you sang the first time, you have made me and everyone else look very stupid and I’m very happy for you, very proud of you.”
Cowell was referring to all of the judges’ negative reaction to Susan when she first appeared in the heats.
When her name was announced as the first finalist, Susan looked stunned before wondering off the stage in the wrong direction and having to be called back.
She then did a little dance and said to judge Piers Morgan: “This one’s for you Piers, Piersy baby!”
Susan admitted that the show has given her a chance to prove herself to the world.
She said: “All my life I’ve always striven to prove myself, that I can be accepted, that I’m not the worthless person that people think I am, that I do have something to offer.”
