The Spice Girls are taking a hands-on approach to their new West End musical, according to band member Mel B.
The 35-year-old singer, known as Scary Spice, said she and her former bandmates had been brainstorming with Mamma Mia! producer Judy Craymer to come up with ideas for the show.
She told the hosts of US show Good Day LA: “Right now we’re working on our musical.
“We’re doing a Spice Girls musical with Judy Craymer, who created Abba the musical and Abba the movie…”
Craymer is working with former Spice Girls manager Simon Fuller to create the new musical – whose working title, Viva Forever, is taken from the group’s 1998 number one single – for London’s West End.
As well as working on the stage show, Mel B – real name Melanie Brown – is presenting a US reality TV show, Dance Your Ass Off, which sees contestants paired up with professional partners in a bid to show off their moves and lose weight at the same time.
The former Peep Show star, who is married to film producer Stephen Belafonte, now lives full time in Los Angeles and confessed that she would find it hard to return to the English weather.
She said: “I do go back to London a lot for work, but… I can’t take the weather [there] – I love being here in the sunshine.”
Hit reality show Dancing with the Stars is about to get a whole lot Scarier.
Former contestant Mel B is in the running to take over as a co-host of the show.
Current co-host Samantha Harris has announced she is leaving the show, and producers are now racing to find a co-host before the celeb dance contest kicks off its new season on March 22 on ABC in the US.
A shortlist of replacements have been drawn up including two former contestants Melissa Rycroft and Brooke Burke.
But according to reports, it’s now Mel B who is the frontrunner to co-host the show.
The singer, Scary Spice in the girl band the Spice Girls, is also no stranger to the show, after she came in second place in season five.
And it has been revealed the mum of two was invited to the ABC studios this week for a screen test.
An announcement on Harris’ replacement is expected shortly.
At the Brit Awards that took place this past Tuesday, the Spice Girls won the coveted Best Performance of the Last 30 Years prize for their 1997 performance of ‘Who Do You Think You Are’. Geri Halliwell and Mel B accepted the award and thanked fans for their unwavering support. The all girl band even beat out the likes of Paul McCartney and Tom Jones for the top prize. Congratulations! I don’t really think that I totally agree with the choice of winners but that’s already done and over with. I’m sure they could have done much worse and I’m glad they didn’t.
Mel B has said all five of the Spice Girls are “super excited” about a musical to celebrate the band’s music.
The 34-year-old was one fifth of the hit band, which hit the big time in the late 90s, along with Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton, Mel C and Geri Halliwell.
It was recently announced that a musical is being developed by their former manager Simon Fuller and Mamma Mia! producer Judy Craymer based on their hits.
Mel B said to UK magazine Hello!: “All five of us are really super excited. We don’t do anything unless all five agree.
“All of us loved Mamma Mia! We needed someone who would have a great vision alongside ours.”
The former Spice Girl recently expressed her contentment with Madonna’s attempt of adopting the little Malawian girl. Melanie B said: “It’s easy for critics to knock celebrities who choose to adopt, but it’s a good thing that Madonna’s doing. Not only is she highlighting the plight of orphans in Africa, she’s also giving this little girl the chance of a better life.” Orphans in Africa are a plight? Moreover, why does Melanie B think that they even need to be highlighted… everyone knows about the orphans in Africa. Everyone has known about them for about a decade and a half now, and yet there is little being done to stop this “plight”.
The former Spice Girl who gave birth to her first baby in August 2007 said she’s very excited about motherhood and can’t wait to have her next baby. However, her words were the following: “Beau is my all, my life and the reason I’m happier than ever. I’m enjoying being a mummy most of all, he’s so gorgeous. He’s so good and funny and loves his cuddles. After having such a wonderful little thing, I can’t wait to have another.” Now this might just be a typo, but somebody should inform Emma Bunton that calling herself a “mummy” isn’t exactly too insinuating of motherhood, but rather of getting into the Smithsonian Institute. And about the “wonderful little thing”, she should know it’s not going to be little, or wonderful for too long.
Victoria Beckham former Spice Girl wore a sari for the magazine’s bridal issue which shows you “how to get your WOW wedding.” Victoria told the November edition of the mag which is already on sale that “I’ve never played safe with my image. I feel like an Indian princess!” That’s why she’s slowly and surely becoming a style icon. I like how she looks dressed as an Indian bride. She looks really great with the long hair extensions and the natural make up.
Melanie “Sporty Spice” Chisholm is set to marry her baby daddy and partner of six years, Thomas Starr.
The UK’s Mirror reports that the two were engaged last month.
The Mirror also reports that Mel C. and Thomas are supposedly planning a spring wedding, after the birth of their first baby.
Her fellow Spice Girls are said to be very excited about the arrival of baby and upcoming wedding.

Geri Halliwell got into a little bikini for a photo shoot in the new issue of Hello magazine. Geri says that she hasn’t been willingly photographed in a bikini for years. It’s been seven years to be exact. She adds “People think I’m really confident but I do get self-conscious like many women about stripping off in public. I haven’t been willingly photographed in a bikini for seven years – and I don’t think I’ll do it again. At the moment, I’m a bit curvier, having done the tour, so it was a big mental step forward for me to show my natural self, rather than my worked-out, honed self.” Curvy looks really good on her though so she should flaunt it.
Corey Haim says Victoria Beckham loved “gnawing” on his lip when they dated. The 36-year-old actor, who briefly romanced the star in 1995, fell for the former Spice Girl – who is now married to soccer star David Beckham – despite her bizarre kissing technique.He said: “I did date Victoria Beckham. When she kisses she does this funny thing. She does this gnaw thing. She liked to gnaw on my lip.”
Corey also recalled the first time he met Victoria and her Spice Girls bandmates at a London recording studio. He said: “Five girls in these crazy outfits piled out of a car. They were like punk chicks, Sid Vicious chicks. They walked into the studio and I met Vic. Sniper eyes. It was my obligation as a man to hang out with her.”
Corey revealed Victoria, 34, was so serious about him she took him home to meet her parents. He said: “I went to her parents’ house. She crept into my room at three in the morning. I heard this knock on the door and it was Vic. Earlier her folks had said, ‘I don’t want to hear you sneaking around the house in the middle of the night.’ She was just checking that I was OK!”
While Victoria has previously claimed the pair split after having a furious fight because Corey was jealous of her crush on boyband Take That, the ‘Lost Boys’ star insists they never officially parted ways. He added: “We never really split up. My brain wasn’t really functioning at the time. So she said she drove to my Hilton Hotel in Kensington and threw my clothes all over the road? Dude, I stayed at the Marriott not the Hilton! If that happened it doesn’t sound right. I was whispering in her ear and we were acting like soulmates. I wouldn’t expect a girl I was with to say she liked some other guys and then kick me out of her car. But if she said it I guess it must be real. She has never lied to me. I’m not happy to hear she cheated on me with some guy.”
Victoria Beckham is set to star in the new ‘Alan Partridge’ movie.
The Spice Girl, who is desperate to make it as an actress, has reportedly signed up to play Steve Coogan’s assistant Lynn in the big-screen adaptation of the hit British TV show, based around the mishaps of radio DJ Alan.
A source said: ‘The Partridge film has been in pre-production for an age. One reason was because they couldn’t agree on Lynn. Felicity Montagu, who played Lynn in the TV series, doesn’t want to go to Hollywood and the film’s backers decided they wanted a big name to replace her. It was also important to them to have a Briton and someone with a sense of fun.’
Victoria – who lives in Los Angeles with her soccer star husband David and their three sons – impressed bosses with her humour and is prepared to ditch her usual glamorous image for the dowdy role.
The source added: ‘Victoria is a big name but no one expected her to have such a rapier-like wit. She’s game to frump up for the role, too. She was practising her hangdog grimace to David the other day. It was cracking him up.’
Last year, Victoria made a guest appearance in hit US TV show ‘Ugly Betty’, playing Wilhelmina Slater’s bridesmaid, and was very well liked by all the cast. America Ferrera – who plays geeky editorial assistant Betty Suarez – said the singer was willing to be humiliated and happily poked fun at her public image.
She said: “She was wonderful. She definitely came with the right attitude. If you’re not willing to be humiliated then you don’t belong on our show”
Emma Bunton’s foot injury that she suffered at a concert in Las Vegas on Tuesday is throwing a wrench into the Spice Girls’ comeback plans. But as they say, the show must go on – even if it hurts.
Along with the show, promos are also going on. The ladies plus Emma’s crutches posed for photos at London’s Heathrow airport on Thursday as they christened the opening of the new Virgin Atlantic terminal. Emma got around by being pushed in a wheelchair.
But not all promo dates have been made, as Emma’s injured ankle has forced the band to pull out of a TV performance on the day of their first London show. I’m sure she was just asked to take it easy.
Victoria Beckham recently went face-to-face with Larry King on CNN for his show Larry King Live. On the show, she talked about her sleeping arrangements with husband David. As we all know, the Beckhams sleep naked. And as Posh explains it “A lot of women would understand that if they were getting in bed with David Beckham.” Now that’s just rubbing salt in the wound!
Posh also addressed several rumors. Most notable of which are the ones about Scientology which she says are not true, and the pregnancy rumors which she also says are not true. But who really knows? They might already be working on it.
Spice Girls tour is coming up and Geri Halliwell has decided she needs some extra help in the vocal department. That’s why she’s hire a vocal coach that doesn’t have great things to say about Halliwell’s vocal abilities. Her voice coach, Zoe Tyler, says, “Geri can’t sing live. She is s**t but she knows she is. At least she is realistic. Hey Hey Zoe wait a minute aren’t you being so harsh on her, like wait a minute, ok there are scores of females who can’t sing in the music world but just do not criticize some one to the extent that it might demoralize her. We need to show all of these singer how bad they so that they know where they actually stand in terms of ability. But criticism should always allow scope being constructive in the criticism, I mean you will only do harm if you go all out with the criticism, leave room where you can be telling her the short comings and then work to improve her voice.
Victoria Beckham is in negotiations to play herself in an upcoming episode of hit sitcom Ugly Betty. Show regular Eric Mabius revealed the news during a recent interview, explaining producers have made the initial steps to sign the singer up when she becomes a Los Angeles resident later this summer. Ever since Los Angeles Galaxy announced their deal with David Beckham, US Television and other marketing companies have turn head over heals to rope in Victoria either to host a show and appear on their channel. Now that she along with her former band mates – known as Spice Girls have confirmed that they shall take up a world tour starting December this year, Victoria will be all the more busy. These American TV channel are so much in love with celebrity people appearing for them they might have flown Victoria straight from her home in Madrid where Beckham is currently playing for Real Madrid.
