Halle Berry: ‘Skin Color Still A Problem In Hollywood’

halle.jpg

Actress Halle Berry is frustrated she still has to convince movie bosses of her acting ability because of her skin color. The 41-year-old is the only woman of African American descent to have won an Oscar for Best Actress - but Berry admits race barriers still exist in Hollywood. She needs to get over it…..by the way she is half white but forgets to mention that. In fact, there are more women actress’s out there today, that are unbelievable! And quite a few that are white etc.etc.., and cannot get work…gee… reverse discrimination? You wonder! Pave the way for ALL Women! By the way it amazes me that a Oscar winning actress and a former bond girl finds it hard to land significant roles in Hollywood movies, it has also to do with our fixation for white skin, that looks attractive but is mostly empty inside. I though ours’ is an industry that believes in quality and commitment rather that the color of the skin, but barriers exists and we live on to ignore it.

Broadbent To Star In Next ‘Harry Potter’ Movie

broadbent.jpg

Oscar winning British actor Jim Broadbent has signed on to appear in the sixth ‘Harry Potter’ film – Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Few weeks ago there was a news article in the daily news paper that I get a copy of every morning and it said that Harry Potter movie series has become the top most grossing movie series of all times when it beat British spy movie series James Bond to claim that title. I have seen the Harry Potter movies and probably everyone in the world who watches cinema has seen the movie and it is superb movie of fantasies and magic but is far from the truth, children shouldn’t be exposed to the harsh realities of our naked world at an early age so they will obviously enjoy seeing some kido stuff but James Bond is more of a man’s thing where the spy agent 007 works on a mission and has the license to kill, thrill and the license to have sex anytime he sees a beautiful blond or brunette. So that’s my choice for a slick movie and not Harry Potter. Sorry you kids if you ever happen to read my comments.

Sir Ben Kingsley won an Oscar for his portrayal of Gandhi. Oscar-winning actor Sir Ben Kingsley has married his fourth wife, Brazilian actress Daniela Barbosa de Carneiro, his publicist has confirmed.

Sir Ben, who won an Academy Award for his role as Gandhi, said the marriage ceremony and celebration was “blissfully private and beautiful”.
“We had a lovely lunch on the lawn. It was very simple and very happy,” he added.
Speaking of his new wife, the film star said: “Without sounding pompous, she looks like a combination of ancient Egypt and ancient Rome.
“I love mythology and Shakespeare and so does she. We have that connection.”
Barbosa - who will now be known as Lady Kingsley - has been seen in a number of minor TV roles, including parts in Casualty, EastEnders and Ali G Indahouse.

He’s getting hotter by the day; George Clooney

clooney.jpg
George Clooney and Helen Mirren are Hollywood’s best vintages according to a new study.

Nearly a third (32 per cent) of Brits chose The Good German star Clooney as the Hollywood heartthrob who has aged best, while Oscar winner Dame Helen Mirren was crowned the nation’s beauty Queen with more than one in three (34 per cent) Brits choosing her as the female film star who has aged most gracefully.

The survey by Campo Viejo also found Johnny Depp and Jennifer Aniston were the actors we would most like to share a bottle of wine with.

When it comes to acting talent, Brits are characteristically patriotic choosing Pirates of the Caribbean stars Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley as the most talented young actor and actress.

Bloom, who is currently treading the boards in London’s west end, secured nearly twice as many votes as his nearest rival Jake Gyllenhaal and nearly three times as many as Spiderman star Tobey Maguire Scarlett Johansson and Kirsten Dunst battled it out for second and third place.

Tim Robbins jams with local band

tim-robbins2.jpg
Patrons of a downtown bar in this city of 24,000 people were surprised when Tim Robbins strolled in and started jamming with a local band.
The 48-year-old actor, who was in Edwardsville for his upcoming movie, “The Return” brought a guitar and played classic R&B at Laurie’s Place on Wednesday evening, The Telegraph reported.
“I have never had a big celebrity come in and sit in with the band”, said bar owner Laurie Chavez.
Robbins had wrapped up a day of filming for the drama, also starring Rachel McAdams, before coming into the bar for the impromptu concert. He played songs including “Backstreets” by Bruce Springsteen.
The crowd, snapping pictures with cell phone cameras and filming with small camcorders, grew as the news of Robbins’ miniconcert spread.
“I gave him a T-shirt and had him autograph my wall”, Chavez said. “He then shook my hand. He fit right in here, without a doubt.”
Before the evening was over, Robbins signed autographs and posed for pictures.
Robbins won an Oscar for his role in 2003’s “Mystic River”. His screen credits also include “The Shawshank Redemption” and “The Player”.
After he was told by a newspaper editor that he was going to be on the front page for a story about the surprise concert, Robbins cracked a joke.
“It’s good to be put on the front for that rather than something else”.
