After Garth Brooks announced that he was coming out of his retirement and performing at the Wynn Las Vegas resort, tickets to the country singer’s first 20 shows sold out in less than five hours. I’m not surprised at all considering that Garth is one of the best selling solo music acts ever. Garth signed a five-year deal with Steve Wynn to perform 15 weeks of shows a year with the first one going down on December 11. The tickets cost $125 and that still doesn’t include all those pesky convenience charges. He better give his fans a good show if people are forking over that kind of cash in the crappy economy that we’re all in.
I guess that when you’re in a secret marriage for almost 2 years, you’re going want to be as public as you can with the next person. Emmy Rossum only parted ways with her music business exec hubby Justin Siegel in August but the singer and actress is now linked to another guy. In Touch Weekly is reporting that Emmy has been seen wining and dining with Counting Crows lead singer Adam Duritz. A source said “They are totally dating and aren’t afraid to show it.” The guy looks like an ape yet he’s managed to date Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox and now, Emmy. How does he do it?
Introducing Orianthi, the guitar phenomenon who is featured prominently in the upcoming Michael Jackson concert documentary, This Is It. Already a renowned musician, Orianthi has been playing guitar since the age of eleven and was discovered by legend Carlos Santana. After playing with artists like Carrie Underwood, ZZ Top, and Prince, she received a MySpace message from Michael Jackson’s musical director asking her to audition for his comeback tour. Following a test run with the King of Pop himself, she was selected as his lead guitarist for his O2 arena dates in London – a crowning acheivement for the 24 year old from Adelaide, Australia.
Now Orianthi is preparing to release her solo debut album, Believe, on October 27th. In addition to her talent at guitar, Orianthi has a gorgeous voice and even sang at Michael Jackson’s Staples Center memorial service. Even before starting rehearsals for his tour though, she was hard at work writing and recording the album with her band. Believe is full of anthemic rock tracks with a sound reminiscent of Paramore or Evanescence, but entirely Orianthi thanks to her signature shreds and thunderous hooks. Her first single, “According to You” is a catchy tale of an ungrateful boyfriend, featuring a killer guitar solo.
To hear the story in her own words, watch Orianthi in this segment from Australia’s Today show. Visit Orianthi.com for updates on this rising star, and be sure to check her out in This Is It out on October 28th.

Rockband Blink 182 have donated $100,000 to burns centre.
Travis Barker, 33, and the rest of the band are donating a bulk of money to the burn centre that saved Barker’s life after he was involved in a plane crash in Columbia back in 2008.
After a recent show in Georgia, the band said they were going to give $100,000 to the Joseph M. Still Burn Center at Doctors Hospital in Augusta, Georgia.
Travis wants to donate the money “in recognition of their tremendous care and aid of Travis Barker through his recovery from the 2008 plane crash”.
Katie Holmes has treated her co-star Bailee Madison, nine, to a trip to the theatre to help them become friends.
The pair are currently in Melbourne, Australia, making the horror flick Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark with Aussie actor Guy Pearce.
The star took Bailee to see a matinee performance of the musical Wicked as a special treat.
Katie, who is also looking after daughter Suri, three, while her husband Tom travels with his Australian friend James Packer, plays Bailee’s mom in the film.
A source on set said: “Katie has taken Bailee under her wing. She knows what it’s like to be young and to be working on a film set so she’s been looking after Bailee as best she can.
“The trip to the theatre was a special treat. They sneaked in a back way so that they wouldn’t be noticed. They had a wonderful time. The pair get on well, and Bailee is looking forward to meeting Suri.”
The pair have been going though readings of the movie at the film set in Melbourne for the past couple of weeks. Shooting is expected to move out on location in the coming days.
We may know her as the bleached blonde pop sensation currently storming the charts – but these exclusive photographs prove Lady Gaga was once a demure Convent schoolgirl.
The outrageous Pokerface singer, real name Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, has undergone an amazing transformation since graduating from the strict Convent of the Sacred Heart School, Manhattan, New York, seven years ago.
These yearbook pictures show GaGa as an upper-class, slightly plump brunette playing piano and taking choir lessons with her fellow pupils.
A straight-A student, she delighted her self-made parents by excelling at the GBP 23,000-a-year establishment, where ‘social graces’ were of the utmost importance.
Founded in 1881 by nuns, French, art, ‘politeness’ lessons and a uniform with white gloves were mandatory.
These days, Stefani, 23, is unrecognisable having morphed into her catsuit wearing alter-ego Lady GaGa.
According to her old school pals, she successfully hid her wild side during her strict educational years.
No doubt the closet diva was bursting to get out – at 19 GaGa has admitted to rebelling against her wealthy American parents by becoming a stripper in Manhattan’s seedy nightclubs.
“We were a rich kids’ school but with good morals,” former school friend Cristina Civetta, a New York writer and fashion designer, told the UK’s Mail on Sunday.
“Stefani was a straight-A student who wore her skirt to her knee, as we were supposed to, and knee-high socks.
“I was so shocked when I first saw her perform as Lady Gaga.
“It was at a Lower East Side club, the Slipper Room, and she was in a coned bra and little hot pants.
The singer recently admitted that she is very passionate about Ryan Adams. Unfortunately for him, this is not in the good sense. Courtney Love wrote the following about Ryan Adams: “People i would hit if i saw them: Ryan Adams.” She also added a spicy little comment about his new wife, Mandy Moore: “Christ ugh igh ugh Mandy Moore ick the thoufghg of her sticking her toungue downthat filthy hatch…i might as well go watch ‘Hostelle’ ill feel better), ick, dirty sheets, ick no toothbrush, smelly ass, ick i LOATHE that guy.” Talk about powerful feelings. Still, Courtney Love does seem to have more to do with Ryan Adams than meets the eye, doesn’t she? I mean come on, despising someone that much… it has to come out of somewhere.
Did you know that Dennis Quaid is a bona fide rock star? Yes, I am talking about that Dennis Quaid. The more famously known as an actor Dennis and his band The Sharks recently performed at Aqua Lounge last week. His overly enthusiastic, sweat fuelled performance was more convincing than any moment in his movie ‘The Day After Tomorrow’. Maybe he was right in going for a singing career. I have no idea if he actually sounds good though. However, we all know how idiotic actors turned musicians can be. They all just turn out to be wannabes. Just look at Joaquin Phoenix.
Mandy Moore was recently asked by EW if music is something that she and her new husband Ryan Adams bond over. The singer and actress answered enthusiastically with “Well, yeah! That’s definitely a common interest between the two of us. There’s always music playing in the house, or being written. It’s nice to be able to share that with one another, and share new things that we discover and find. Usually it’s him introducing me to something. There’s a lot more metal being played in the house than ever before. It’s like, ‘No, no, that’s hair metal, that’s not black metal. And that’s more melodic Scandinavian metal.’ It’s hard to discern, but I’m starting to get there.”
Rumors are going around that the end may be near for Clay Aiken’s record deal. His label, RCA, has been removing Clay from their roster little by little, with the deletion of his official RCA message board and press materials from the label’s website. Clay was also not present at the opening of the American Idol Experience at Disney World. The only thing that’s left to get this rumor cemented as a fact is an official announcement from RCA. I’ve got a feeling that unlike other fallen Idols, Clay will find his way back on his feet. There’s always Broadway.
Joaquin Phoenix’s rep Susan Patricola is insisting that the so-called retired actor’s journey to making a career in rap/hip hop is not a well-crafted hoax but is serious and very real. She wrote an email to MTV saying “The transition from one career to another is never seamless. It should come as no surprise to anyone that Joaquin came from a musical family, in addition to winning a Golden Globe for his portrayal of Johnny Cash. He intends on exploring his musical interests despite speculative, negative or positive reactions.” If it ends up as a joke, I will never forgive her for using Johnny Cash’s name in vain.
Joaquin Phoenix has said goodbye to acting and hello to the world of music. Casey Affleck has been said to be following the former actor on his latest journey as Casey is directing a documentary feature on Joaquin who is trying his hands at being a rapper. Joaquin’s album is apparently set to be produced by Diddy and he’s scheduled to make his first public performance on Friday at Las Vegas club Lavo, which will officially kick off Casey’s production. Is this serious? Oh well. There’s nothing more enjoying than to watch than train wrecks on tape. Joaquin – a rapper. Pfft.
Michael Jackson is trying to use a sick note to get out of testifying in London in a suit brought on against him by Arab sheikh Al Khalifa. The prince claimed in a lawsuit that Jacko owes him $7 million for a contract that the dethroned King of Pop never made good on. Jacko’s lawyer Robert Englehart says that it would be “unwise for him to travel, given what’s he’s got now” though he would not elaborate on what ails the singer. Khalifa’s lawyer is not buying it though calling the medical evidence unsatisfactory and pointing out that this isn’t the first time that Jacko tried to worm his way out of court.
Amy Winehouse’s dad posed with a recreation of his daughter at the unveiling of the singer’s wax statue at Madame Toussad’s in London on Wednesday. It’s probably the worst out of all the statues because it’s not very lifelike. It’s missing the bad skin, track marks and scratches. Wino wasn’t there at the unveiling but her parents claimed that she couldn’t make it because she was up late the night before working on her new album. That’s probably the biggest sack of lies I’ve heard in a while. People really need o stop being such enablers. They’re just giving her more reason to screw up.
Mark Ronson’s DJ girlfriend Daisy Lowe, the daughter of Bush front man Gavin Rossdale and British singer turned designer Pearl Lowe sang on Lindsay Lohan’s gay love affair. Daisy has reportedly said that her music producer boyfriend approves of the relationship between his sister Samantha and Lindsay. She says “I met Lindsay and Sam for the first time during the weekend before the Coachella festival. Sam is an amazing girl. The four of us had a brilliant time – a real laugh. Lindsay is really down to earth. Her and Sam make a lovely couple – they seem really happy. Their relationship is totally genuine. And they’re just so sweet together.”
Irish singer and former member of the boyband Westlife, Bryan McFadden, flew out from Australia to join his fiancé in America where her new album was released this week. Delta Goodrem and her man attended Vitaminwater’s MLB All-Star week celebration in New York City on Monday night. Would you just look at these two? Don’t they look like the Mr. And Mrs. Perfect that most people have in their heads? I can’t tell which of them is lucky to have the other so I’ll just call it a tie. But if you consider who Bryan was previously married to (former Atomic Kitten Kerry Katona), he’s obviously the luckier of the two.
Kelly Rowland says Madonna is allowed to be a diva.
The former Destiny’s Child singer insists the pop superstar, known for her outrageous demands, should be able to ask for whatever she wants because ’she’s freakin’ Madonna’.
Kelly said: ‘Madonna can have anything she wants. If she only wants red Skittles then get her red Skittles, she’s freakin’ Madonna! And if she wants a huge trailer, get her a huge trailer.’
Madonna reportedly enraged fellow artists and organisers at Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Maidstone, Kent, on Saturday, by insisting on having special Kabbalah water backstage and requesting a private helicopter to take her to the event.
The 49-year-old singer’s 70-strong entourage are also said to have demolished the free food and alcohol provided for the other artists performing, which included Kelly, The Kooks and Nelly.
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs posed with his son Christian Casey, identical twin daughters D’Lila Star and Jessie James and Kim Porter and her son Quincy after being honored with the 2,362nd star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Hollywood Boulevard on Friday. Of the honor, Diddy said “Today is one of the best days of my life. Today is proof if you believe, all your dreams can come true. If it wasn’t for my mother, I wouldn’t be here. You can get a lot of honors, but there’s nothing that means as much as the love of your mother. This right here, I hope it makes you proud Mom. I love you so much. I owe my whole life to you.”
