Kanye West to Perform at VMAs

Posted on Aug 12, 2010 under Kanye West, Mtv, Taylor Swift | 1 Comment

After last year’s now infamous interruption of Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech, Kanye West has the chance to redeem himself as the rapper has been announced as a performer at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards which will be held on September 12th. Maybe he should do a surprise duet with the country singer to show how sorry he really is. I doubt Taylor would accept though. But I do have to admit, I’m excited to see how Kanye will do and how the crowd would react to him being there. I’m sure everyone will be referencing to last year in the jokes and whatnot.

The All-American Rejects Rock New York City

Posted on Sep 18, 2009 under All-American Rejects, Mtv, Video, song, vma | No Comment

The All-American Rejects got busy in New York City this week starting off with a special performance of their hit single “Gives You Hell.”
They took the stage with house band Wale at MTV’s VMAs show where front man Tyson Ritter debuted a new glittery look. After rocking the proverbial house, Ritter caught up with MTV news
and confirmed the long standing rumor that he will in fact be teaming up with pop powerhouse Rihanna for a yet to be recorded track. With AAR’s stock rising by the day, it only made sense for the quartet to cap their week by ringing the opening bell for the New York Stock Exchange
The All-American Rejects’ album When The World Comes Down featuring “Gives You Hell” and “I Wanna” is in stores now. For more information visit allamericanrejects.com

Jay Leno’s new primetime show slammed as re-hash

Posted on Sep 16, 2009 under American Idol, Jay Leno, Kanye West, Mtv, Taylor Swift, VIP People, vma | No Comment

SPL35209_001

Jay Leno’s debut primetime show has fallen flat with reviewers, who panned it, while viewers gave it the apparent thumbs-up.

The show, which debuted on Monday night, drew the biggest audience – 18.4 million – for an entertainment show since the finale of American Idol.

Leno also had the good fortune of the Kanye West MTV gaffe falling into his lap for his debut show. He interviewed West about hijacking Taylor Swift during her acceptance speech at the awards.

Reviewers were united in saying the new show showed little departure from the old. USA Today called the show a “cut-rate, snooze-inducing, rehashed bore”.

“The future of The Jay Leno Show is likely to look almost exactly like The Tonight Show past. So much ink has been devoted to describing how Mr Leno’s new show would depart from his old one that it was startling to see how little difference there was,” said the reviewer for The New York Times.

MTV VMAs host Russell Brand ‘cut back on controversy’

Posted on Sep 15, 2009 under Award, Mtv, vma | No Comment

SPL117211_004

MTV Video Music Awards host Russell Brand said he “cut back on controversy” at this year’s show.

The British comic presented the event for the second year in the row and said he went for a lighter tone this year.

Talking on his way to an after-party, he told British newspaper The Sun: “I’m buzzing. It was fantastic.

“I threw this one in – we English have a different grasp of language. You say truck, we say lorry. You say elevator, we say lift. You let people die on the streets, we have the National Health Service. I cut back on controversy this year.”

Russell Brand makes saucy jokes about leading ladies at VMAs

Russell Brand -pic

Lothario comic Russell Brand joked he wanted to drug Megan Fox, be a “shoulder to cry on” for Katy Perry and bed Lady GaGa – even if she was an hermaphrodite – as he hosted the MTV Video Music Awards.

The cheeky Brit had GaGa laughing out loud as he told the audience: “If you haven’t worked it out by now, yeah I’m trying to **** her.”

Referring to rumours the Poker Face singer could be an hermaphrodite after a recent fake penis stage stunt, he added: “And if I pull her leotard to one side and find something a little extra there, I will just make it stiff and hang my hat on it.”

GaGa seemed to see the funny side, although Katy Perry and Megan Fox didn’t look too impressed with Brand’s risqué gags when the cameras cut to them while he was on stage.

Brand joked about movie beauty Megan: “She has admitted she is a little bit cuckoo upstairs and I have trained in psychiatry.

“So Megan, if you do have a little dizzy spell love, I could probably drop you a little pill.

“You can go and have a lie down in my dressing room.

“You might get some crazy dreams about being visited by a scarecrow, a perfumed weirdo leaning over you. But let me tell you, that’s a common side-effect. Megan, take your medicine.”

Brand ended the show by saying: “Obviously I’m supposed to say music is the real winner tonight. But Katy Perry didn’t win an award and she is staying in the same hotel as me so she’s going to need a shoulder to cry on. So in a way I’m the real winner tonight.”

Russell Brand has gone a little bit Broadway.

The British comedian stars with Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, and Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester in an all-star remake of West Side Story song, Tonight.

Brand, wearing a top hat, sings and dances in the promotional video for the 2009 Video Music Awards (VMA).

The funny man is due to host the awards show in New York on Sunday, 13 September.

In the video, Brand plays up his reputation as a womaniser, singing: “I am in charge of who gets awards, Tonight, Tonight, I know its impolite, but I will swap these for sexual rewards.

“Tonight, I am shagging Lady Gaga, there is no one I’d rather make pregnant on this night.

“Will saucy Pink and Katy Perry kiss, yes they might.”

The pair are now constantly spotted in the gorgeous Lake Como area.

Clooney, 48, met the 30-year-old television hostess in Rome last month through a mutual friend.

They were seen shortly afterward sharing a romantic dinner at the Hotel Majestic.

Kristen Stewart makes Robert Pattinson laugh by dropping MTV Movie Award

SPL74379_001

Clumsy Kristen Stewart had her Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson roaring with laughter at the MTV Movie Awards when she dropped her Best Female Performance prize.

The rising star was delivering her acceptance speech when she tried to pick up the award, shaped like a tub of popcorn.

But as the award slipped from her grasp, she made a desperate attempt to juggle it before it fell to the floor.

Embarrassed Kristen put her hands over her mouth as she walked back to the podium.

Brit hunk Pattinson didn’t appear too sympathetic though, as he was caught on camera laughing.

Kristen told the celebrity-packed audience: “I was just about as awkward as you thought I was going to be.”

Sarah Silverman on Britney

Posted on Oct 09, 2007 under Britney Spears, Entertainment, Funny, Mtv, Performance, Personal Thoughts | No Comment

blog9-sara-silverman.jpg

Sarah Silverman recently had an interview with The Guardian. She was asked about her spiel on Britney Spears at the VMAs.

She said, “I wish I didn’t do the VMAs. I totally regret it. I liked the jokes I did, but all anyone focused on was that it was mean. But they put me on immediately after Britney, so I had to do jokes. Everyone else laughed, but Britney wasn’t ready to laugh at herself. Every time she’s been on the VMAs, it’s been a spectacle – something amazing. I heard she was gonna have this magician, there’d be fire and smoke, and I would be the little comedian making fun of the big star. I caught a glimpse of her at rehearsal and she was walking through it, and then at the actual performance, she did that same thing! And then I come out and I’m an asshole.”

Rap mogul Jay-Z is convinced Britney Spears Can still make a come back

jay-z-photo.jpg

“Look at Mariah Carey; she had one of the hugest comebacks in musical history. So, you can’t rule anyone out.” Rap mogul Jay-Z is convinced Britney Spears can put her troubles and a terrible MTV Video Music Awards performance behind her and stage a comeback. I personally do not like Britney Spears any longer but when a star singer like Jay-Z says something positive about another singer who’s virtually as good as finished then I’d say that either he’s being out right bold on backing her or he’s lost his mind completely. What ever is the case I must admit that after a long time I have heard/read that someone, some bloody damn person is still backing her to come good and though as I said I don’t like Britney, I wish she comes back with a vengeance and proves all and sundry wrong and makes everyone eat their own words. All this because I love an underdog who can displace the king of his own throne!

Kid Rock Cited for Battery

The cops found Kid Rock and subsequently cited him for misdemeanor Tommy Lee after he allegedly decked Tommy Lee at the MTV VMAs.

The rap-rocker and fellow Pamela Anderson ex got the citation from police after they showed up to the Palms Hotel and Casino after 10PM looking for Kid Rock. Officer bill Cassell spoke with the AP and witnesses to the incident, which included MTV VJ Sway and rap producer Rich Nice.

They didn’t detain Kid Rock though and even let him stay for the rest of the show while Tommy, who was on the receiving end, got escorted out.
