Holiday Movie Goers are Enchanted

Holiday Movie Goers are Enchanted

Hollywood finally rolled out of its slump with strong movie attendance over the Thanksgiving holiday. Disney’s fairy tale romance Enchanted debuted as number 1 and took in $35.3 over the weekend and a whopping $50.05 million since its release on Wednesday.

The movie features actress Amy Adams as a cartoon princess who is banised to the real-world by her fiance’s evil stepmother, played by Susan Sarandon. The princess finds herself in busy Manhattan.

Also featured in the movie are cuties Patrick Dempsey (Grey’s Anatomy’s McDreamy) and James Marsden.

This was the second-best Thanksgiving holiday debut ever, topped only by another Disney favorite, Toy Story 2, which brough in a record $80.1 million. Rounding out the top five Thanksgiving debuts are additional Disney releases, Unbreakable, A Bug’s Life, and 101 Dalmations.

Hollywood has seen a decrease in movie attendance over the last two months, but this weekend’s stellar performances give them great hope for the rest of the year.

I haven’t made it out to see the film yet, but who can resist a good love story? Especially if I get to look at McDreamy for 2 hours!

Sienna Miller Quits Big Movies

Sienna Miller Quits Big Movies

If you are not a Sienna Miller fan I have some good news for you. Sienna has revealed that she is quitting big commercialized movies because they are boring to her. Considering she has had little to no commercial success, I think it’s a great idea for her to not do COMMERCIAL movies. She’s acting like she’ll be depriving the world of something. You’re doing us all a favor, Sienna! Well I have seen none of her movies and if anyone would bother to ask me in the middle of my sleep my answer would not change – I wouldn’t like to see any of her. More over it could be a smart decision nonetheless the best films these days are independent films. Did you see Spiderman 3, it was horrible??? But an independent film like Why Did I Get Married that cost maybe 10 million dollars is great!!! So how do things like that happen??? Too many people involved in making blockbusters–watering them down to be non-offensive story less fast (junk) food for the brain.

J.K. Rowling Outs Dumbledore

jk-rowling-photo.jpg

I think that the fact that J.K. Rowling incorporated a character that is attributed with an alternative life style is an important maneuver. It is an encamping move. And the series may once have been aimed towards children, but can one really try to hide behind the “its a children’s book” after the scenes in the past two books? I think not! The people that are reading this book at this point are teenagers and young adults, 16+. The people who actually have to be concerned with things such as sexual identity. A good example of this is say, a 16 year old male is a homosexual, but does not understand the feelings that he is having, would it not be comforting for this teen to have a familiar icon with the same preferences? This was a very good move. It has nothing to do with publicity, nothing to do with cash, well maybe a little. But primarily, it is to make the characters more human. It was great for her to reveal that one of the most powerful characters in this series leads an alternative life style. And gays are not mean, what the hell was with that comment?!? That’s just bigoted; you can’t group people together like that. That’s pre Martin Luther king Jr. Status.

Wentworth Miller Isn’t Brooding, He’s ‘Squinting’

wentworth-miller-sexy.jpg

Prison Break star Wentworth Miller refuses to accept he is a sex symbol, insisting his “brooding” is down to a squint. My dreams of stardom were about to be re-awakened, because I also squint a lot, having photosensitive eyes as well…but then I realized I’m female. The squinting look only works for males, i.e. Mr. Miller, and Clint Eastwood. Although I do realize that Renee Zellweger is also a squinter, and she’s a big star…I’m no great beauty…so I want to imagine that maybe I can still have a career as a famous comic actor, like she. Please, don’t stomp on my dreams/delusions of grandeur…they are all I have. Haha, I am naming all these lovely looking actors in my comments and my aims are to one day stand besides them, if not as a actor celebrity myself just as an adoring fan and we all squint people could have a joint squint photograph.

Die Hard Director with a Sentence

john-mctiernan.jpg

John McClane never goes down without a fight. And neither is director John McTiernan.
An attorney for the Die Hard director was vowing an appeal after the filmmaker was sentenced Monday to four months in prison for lying to an FBI agent investigating Hollywood private investigator Anthony Pellicano. Ha-ha, making all those unreal and lies in all his movies and then asking the screenplay writer to makes scenes in which the hero gets away or the bad guy gets away with telling a lie and bombarding which tallest American building and then stealing $140 billion of the coffers. This where he got the thought that if he could do it in his movies and the crowds love those scenes then he too could get away with telling lies to the FBI agents. He couldn’t realize that there exist a vast difference between reel life and real life. Four months will teach him something about real life and the FBI too.

Salma Hayek To Have A Baby Girl

salma_hayek_pregnant-photo.jpg

Doesn’t it seem like Salma Hayek has been pregnant forever? But I have another feeling that might not impress the pregnant ladies who read this but I can’t stop myself from telling this. Doesn’t seem that it’s that time of the year when you get to hear that almost every actress over 35 is pregnant. Here’s what I am constantly thinking, Halle Berry is pregnant, Christina Aguilera too is pregnant and so is Salma Hayek. The actress is set to give birth any day now. There is also confirmed news that Salma is having a baby girl. It’s been a crazy year for the actress, after announcing her pregnancy; she quickly got engaged to French businessman François-Henri Pinault. Pinault is the CEO of luxury goods firm PPR, which owns Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent. If Salma does have a baby girl, she is going to be one lucky heiress. After all who wouldn’t want to inherit the most luxurious fashion lines in the world?

Michael Douglas Backs Hillary Clinton

michael-douglas-photo.jpg

Actor Michael Douglas has offered his support for Hillary Clinton in the 2008 presidential election. Douglas is well-known in Hollywood for his liberal views and work with the United Nations. I never thought that Michael would be supporting a candidate just coz she’s the wife of a former US President and a current Senator. Let me speak my mind hear, Ever since Geroge W Bush has taken over as the President of the United States of America I think the US political affairs and its international image has gone for a toss and gone from bad to worse. American people deserve better leadership and if Hillary or Obama become the President next year it would certainly be a new low for the country. The world needs leaders who limit the use of weapons and wars and can combine world power to create a safer environment for us to live in. Mr. Douglas kindly stop campaigning for Hillary and choose the right person to lead America.

Owen Wilson Skips Film Fest but ‘Doing Well’

owen-wilson.jpg

Owen Wilson canceled appearances at the Venice Film Festival but is “doing well” and “making us laugh a lot,” says his longtime friend Wes Anderson.

“When he’s ready he’s going to speak for himself much better than anyone else could,” Anderson told reporters in Venice on Sunday. “He has a very good way with words.”

Wilson, 38, was hospitalized Aug. 26 after what a police log called an attempted suicide. He returned home over the weekend under close watch by family and friends.

Anderson was in Venice promoting the film he directed, The Darjeeling Limited, featuring Wilson with Adrien Brody and Jason Schwartzman as three brothers taking a train trip across India. Wilson originally was due to appear in Venice.

“I just want you to know how excited I am to have the film showing here,” Anderson said at a press conference. “It means a great deal to me, and it also means a great deal to Owen, who wants me to express to you how much it means to him and to say that he wishes he could be with us.”

Anderson added: “We all miss having him here very much. Obviously he’s been through a lot this week but he’s doing well and he’s been making us laugh a lot.”

Grey’s Anatomy’s Kate Walsh Marries Movie Executive

Grey’s Anatomy’s Kate Walsh married movie executive Alex Young on Saturday,

Walsh, 39, wore a custom-made Monique Lhuillier wedding gown as she and Young, 36, exchanged vows at the Ojai Presbyterian Church in the town of Ojai north of Los Angeles. A gospel choir sang “Bless the Broken Road” by Rascal Flatts at the beginning of the ceremony.

Among the about 100 guests were Grey’s costars Katherine Heigl, Chandra Wilson, Sara Ramirez and Justin Chambers, as well as the show’s creator Shonda Rhimes. Also attending were actress Kate Beckinsale and her director husband Len Wiseman.

A lavish reception was scheduled to follow at the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa’s Casa Elar, a Spanish-style estate where guests enjoyed a sit-down dinner.

Wedding planner Jo Gartin of Love Luck and Angels had decorated the estate with hundreds of candles for an intimate atmosphere.

Walsh met Young, a production co-president at 20th Century Fox, in February and they were engaged three months later.

“I know – I’m literally living the dream,” Walsh told PEOPLE at the time. “But you know when you know. I was not expecting it, so it’s kind of amazing.”

Walsh is now starring in a Grey’s spinoff on ABC called Private Practice.
