Joel Madden has said his daughter Harlow is “so happy” to be a big sister to new brother Sparrow.
The 30-year-old Good Charlotte singer became a dad for the second time when girlfriend Nicole Richie, 27, gave birth to son Sparrow James Midnight on September 30.
Madden said: “I love kids, I love working with kids, I love being around kids.”
Asked about how Harlow has adapted to being a big sister, he said: “She loves it. She’s so happy, she’s just psyched. She totally gets it. It fit in perfectly there – hasn’t been a hitch.”
Madden said that parenthood is much easier the second time around: “Well, one, it’s a boy – so you’re not as precious, so he’s going to be a little tougher.”

Yes I know some of those crazy people would say that the couple are low on money and hence are looking for discount purchasing and that they did not spend at all on Christmas.
Well guys a family be it celebrities or a your or for that matter mine we have to save when it matters and it matter now for most. People are getting laid off from job big time so we have to act more sensibly.
Nicole Richie wants to marry fiance Joel Madden ’soon’. The ‘Simple Life’ star – who gave birth to the couple’s first child, Harlow, in January – is keen to tie the knot with the Good Charlotte rocker once their busy schedules allow it.
She said: “The wedding will be soon. We want to get married, it’s just finding the right time. It’s very exciting.”
Nicole also says Joel is an ‘amazing’ dad to little Harlow and is hands-on father. She added: “He is an amazing father. He actually changes more diapers than I do. He’s always singing to her and playing with her.”
Nicole – who has previously been in rehab for drug addiction – says her life has never been better since she met Joel and gave birth to Harlow.
She said: “I’m happier than I have ever been but I take nothing for granted. I have great friends, a great family, a great place to live and a beautiful baby. I’ve gone through a lot of hardship in my past but I really feel like I’ve come out on the other end. I’d really like to show how much I appreciate the fact that I’m still here, because I almost didn’t get that chance.”
A very pregnant Nicole Richie and her beau Joel Madden have started a non-profit organization to help mothers in need. Richie and Madden are planning a baby shower this Sunday at a private home and they’ve asked guests to bring cribs, strollers, and stuffed animals to donate to the new Richie Madden Children’s Foundation. They don’t need shower gifts because they’re rich, so why not use their celebrity status to help those in need. Maybe they never really gave new mothers much of a thought before, but now since Nicole knows what all new motherhood is going to entail, she wants to help. Good for her! God bless Joel, Nicole, their baby, and their foundation! Everyone says and everyone would agree that charity begins at home, so for these two if they want to set an example then they should start off by donating what ever they have, obviously not the full things but the small things that they can spare and that’s how charity begins. Why ask someone else and your guest to bring so that they can donate it?
Lionel Richie thought of the perfect gift for his ‘little girl’… a mansion! Daddy dearest is going to cough up close to $7 million dollars for a villa in Century City for Nicole Richie and her baby daddy Joel Madden. Yeah I thought that Joel would have told Nicole that he would love to live next to her rich father so that anything that comes up all of a sudden these two and especially Joel wouldn’t have to go too far to ask for it. I wish I had a dad who could buy me a mansion even at half that price so I could live in that house with all the super rich facilities available and not a thing to bother about. Just a freaking’ great! Spoiled rich brat never has to grow up and fend for herself. She can go for holidays to the Caribbean, stay at unspoiled beaches, wear a bikini when she is pregnant and come back and have a great gift from her dad, what else she needs to have.
