Australia’s PM accused of schmoozing with celebs

The prime minister of Australia would be best off not schmoozing with celebrities if he wants to help the arts, says a political party.

“It is not enough for [Mr] Kevin Rudd to pose for photos alongside Cate Blanchett at every opportunity,” said Greens senator Christine Milne.

Rudd was seen buddying up with Blanchett at a brainstorming summit he held in the nation’s capital soon after entering office and clearly holds the actress in great admiration.

Blanchett, for her part, thought nothing of bringing along her days-old son Iggy to the summit in order to keep her date in the corridors of power.

“If he wants a truly thriving, healthy Australian arts industry, stop procrastinating and put the matter to rest,” Milne chastised.

She wanted Rudd to stand by the book import restrictions that are currently rattling Australia’s book publishing industry and dividing its Cabinet.

Rumer Willis says girls don’t like her

Rumer Willis reckons that girls don’t like her.

The actress, daughter of A-listers Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, said that she had always got on better with men.

And she said her Sorority Row co-stars, including Audrina Patridge, were her only gal-pals.

She said: “The girls are probably my only girlfriends in LA now. Girls don’t like me very much – I’m not sure why.

“I’ve always gotten along better with guys.”

She added: “You do a movie with some girls, then later you’re all auditioning for the same parts and it starts getting catty, but we’re all unbelievably supportive of each other.”

Rumer, 21, said she was far from being a wild child.

She told Now magazine: “I’m such a stay at home Betty Crocker! I’ve started baking pies. It’s fun and I figure I’ve got to learn to cook at some time in my life.”

Speaking of her relationship with her stepdad Ashton Kutcher she said: “I respect him and regard him as a parental figure. He’s unbelievably smart, a great guy.”

Heath Ledger’s Trip Home

After a second memorial service on Saturday, Heath Ledger’s family is ready to take him home. His parents and sister left L.A. and flew to Perth, Australia. They have plans to bury Heath in the family’s burial plot.

Heath’s costar in Brokeback Mountain, and his daughter’s godfather, Jake Gyllenhaal is planning to travel to Perth to attend the private funeral. It has not been said yet if his ex-girlfriend and mother of his child Michelle Williams will go.

Toxicology reports from an autopsy done on Heath may be released as early as tomorrow.

Johnny Depp Honors Tim Burton

The Venice Film Festival is such a momentous occasion. And this year, Tim Burton was awarded a career Golden Lion award for his accomplishments in film.

Most appropriately, Johnny Depp, a frequent leading man in Burton’s films, was chosen to present the director with his award. He told press, “It’s a very big honor to present Tim with this award. He is my favorite director and a very close friend.”

Michael Douglas Backs Hillary Clinton

Actor Michael Douglas has offered his support for Hillary Clinton in the 2008 presidential election. Douglas is well-known in Hollywood for his liberal views and work with the United Nations. I never thought that Michael would be supporting a candidate just coz she’s the wife of a former US President and a current Senator. Let me speak my mind hear, Ever since Geroge W Bush has taken over as the President of the United States of America I think the US political affairs and its international image has gone for a toss and gone from bad to worse. American people deserve better leadership and if Hillary or Obama become the President next year it would certainly be a new low for the country. The world needs leaders who limit the use of weapons and wars and can combine world power to create a safer environment for us to live in. Mr. Douglas kindly stop campaigning for Hillary and choose the right person to lead America.

In the 2006 indie film Friends With Money, Jennifer Aniston played a moneyless maid who was surrounded by buds with bucks. But in real life, according to Star magazine, Jen is known to her poorer pals as a bountiful babe who spares no expense when it comes to footing the bill. I do not know Jennifer, but I do know that she has shown grace and patience with people of the world. I believe she has shown how to walk through hard times, and stay healthy at the same time. I think the level of gossip and tearing people down is way out of control and has been for some time. I am looking forward to seeing Jennifer in more movies. So look out every body Jennifer is all ready at the top she has grace! And health! We shouldn’t be criticizing an actor just for the heck of it. Look at her ain’t she one of the most beautiful people you have ever seen. Man lets give in that’s whatever bad that has been circulated about her please forget it coz she’s here to stay.

Hilton’s Clothing Line Makes Chaos

Paris Hilton stopped traffic recently with the launch of her own clothing line. On Thursday in Los Angeles she launched her new line at a fashionable boutique. The crowd grew so big that police had to be called in to control the masses that swarmed in for a glimpse of the heiress. A lane of traffic had to be closed on Robertson Boulevard to allow for thousands of fans trying to get close to the “Simple Life” star. When asked about her clothing line consisting of shoes, shirts and jeans she says that it’s fun, bright and flashy. She even took a moment to play up the angle that it was affordable. I’m sure there are many people who may actually care about a clothing line by Paris Hilton. My question is, where are all the proceeds going? I would certainly hope she is donating a portion to charity or something. We all know that she’s not exactly hurting for money.

JENNIFER ANISTON is starring in her own real life BREAK UP once again, it seems, with speculation that her whirlwind romance with British model PAUL SCULFOR has come to an end. The pair was apparently seen having a major row while at dinner at Santa Monica’s Shutters on the Beach restaurant. A witness at the restaurant told Us Weekly: “They seemed to have had a disagreement. Jen stared Paul straight in the eyes and crossed her arms against her chest. It’s no big deal that the magazines are reporting a small scuffle between the two as such a big issue and publishing the matter. The magazine just has to fill its columns and therefore anything that can fill the space is written. Leave the babe alone and she might make a resolution some day like Halle Berry to never get married or in Jennifer’s case fall for a man. Jennifer there are many good guys in this world you just need to wait and find the prefect matching.
