Charlize Theron

Celebrities like to stay busy, that’s why Charlize Theron is loving her time at the Venice Film Festival.

The “Italian Job” hottie is spending a very busy festival, where her recent commitment was to attend the premiere of her new movie – “The Burning Plain.”

She looked absolutely gorgeous on the red carpet just before the start of the event. The Academy Award-winner actress acted in the movie along with doing the job of an executive producer for the movie. This is how people earn money!!!

She was also found offering free advice to anyone who is willing to do a producer’s job, as she said, “No one sitting up here was thinking they’d come out rich. But we can all say we’ve done something we’re incredibly proud with, which is something money can’t buy. You are kidding yourself if you think you’ll be walking away with a multi-million dollar house.”
However, in the end she might walk away with a multi-million dollar house!!!

Lilly Allen thrown off yacht

lily-allen-party.jpg

Lily Allen was reportedly thrown off Flavio Briatore’s yacht. The ‘Smile’ singer enraged the Formula 1 boss with her drunken antics in Cannes, France, which included ripping her bikini top off and having to be rescued from the sea.

Lily, who appeared to be intoxicated, jumped overboard the vessel but had to be dragged out of the sea by crew members who feared she was drowning. When she was back on board, embarrassed Flavio made her cover up before asking her to leave.

The incident is the latest in a string of drunken antics for the singer, who is in the French resort for the world famous Cannes Film Festival while she takes a break from recording her second album.

Last week, topless pictures of Lily sunbathing were released, but the pop star laughed off the shots, insisting she was happy to be a pin-up. On Friday, she stunned fellow partygoers by revealing she wasn’t wearing any underwear at a black tie party. The day before, she apparently fainted in a taxi back to her hotel, having to be carried out by her father Keith, who is in Cannes promoting his new film.

A friend of the singer said earlier in the week: “Lily doesn’t give a damn. She just wants to have fun. She couldn’t care less what people think, she’s just a young girl having a good time”

Lily had had a turbulent start to the year, following her tragic miscarriage in January and subsequent split from her Chemical Brothers star boyfriend Ed Simmons.

She and her boyfriend Gabriel Aubry are expecting their first child together. Halle went on to say, “It’s the first time I’ve been to an awards show where they served a meal and I actually ate it - the whole thing. I was eating off everybody else’s plate and that felt very liberating and good.”

Sir Ben Kingsley won an Oscar for his portrayal of Gandhi. Oscar-winning actor Sir Ben Kingsley has married his fourth wife, Brazilian actress Daniela Barbosa de Carneiro, his publicist has confirmed.
The 63-year-old wed Barbosa, 34, in a private ceremony in Oxfordshire attended by close friends and family.
The couple are now at the Toronto Film Festival, where Sir Ben is also shooting The Love Guru with Mike Myers.
The actor said: “It is a perfectly-balanced relationship, which like scales, includes its swings.”
The pair, who have been together since February 2006, celebrated their marriage with a reception in the garden of their home in Spelsbury, also in Oxfordshire.
Sir Ben, who won an Academy Award for his role as Gandhi, said the marriage ceremony and celebration was “blissfully private and beautiful”.
“We had a lovely lunch on the lawn. It was very simple and very happy,” he added.
Speaking of his new wife, the film star said: “Without sounding pompous, she looks like a combination of ancient Egypt and ancient Rome.
“I love mythology and Shakespeare and so does she. We have that connection.”
Barbosa - who will now be known as Lady Kingsley - has been seen in a number of minor TV roles, including parts in Casualty, EastEnders and Ali G Indahouse.

Owen Wilson Skips Film Fest but ‘Doing Well’

owen-wilson.jpg

Owen Wilson canceled appearances at the Venice Film Festival but is “doing well” and “making us laugh a lot,” says his longtime friend Wes Anderson.

“When he’s ready he’s going to speak for himself much better than anyone else could,” Anderson told reporters in Venice on Sunday. “He has a very good way with words.”

Wilson, 38, was hospitalized Aug. 26 after what a police log called an attempted suicide. He returned home over the weekend under close watch by family and friends.

Anderson was in Venice promoting the film he directed, The Darjeeling Limited, featuring Wilson with Adrien Brody and Jason Schwartzman as three brothers taking a train trip across India. Wilson originally was due to appear in Venice.

“I just want you to know how excited I am to have the film showing here,” Anderson said at a press conference. “It means a great deal to me, and it also means a great deal to Owen, who wants me to express to you how much it means to him and to say that he wishes he could be with us.”

Anderson added: “We all miss having him here very much. Obviously he’s been through a lot this week but he’s doing well and he’s been making us laugh a lot.”

Theron, Penn films to premiere in Toronto

The Toronto International Film Festival will host the world premieres of “Battle in Seattle,” starring Charlize Theron and Woody Harrelson, and Sean Penn’s “Into the Wild,” organizers said.

The festival, which runs from September 6 to September 15, also has booked North American premieres for the latest films from Andrew Dominik, Todd Haynes, Joe Wright and Paul Haggis, each of which are scheduled to bow first at the Venice International charlize1.jpg

Theron’s boyfriend, Stuart Townsend, makes his directing debut with “Battle in Seattle,” which recounts the 1999 clash between demonstrators and police amid the World Trade Organization meeting in Seattle. Joshua Jackson, Ray Liotta, Michelle Rodriguez and Channing Tatum round out the cast.

Penn’s “Into the Wild” is a fact-based portrait of a young man who gives up all luxuries to live in the Alaskan wilderness. The movie stars Marcia Gay Harden, William Hurt and Vince Vaughn, and is due for a late-September theatrical release via Paramount Vantage.

Other titles include Dominik’s “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford,” the Brad Pitt crime drama from Warner Bros. Pictures, and Brit director Wright’s “Atonement,” a classic British romance drama from Focus Features that stars Keira Knightley and James McAvoy.

Also due here is Haynes’ “I’m Not There,” a Bob Dylan-inspired movie starring Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, Richard Gere and Heath Ledger, set for a November release by the Weinstein Co.; and Paul Haggis’ “In The Valley of Elah,” a Warner Bros. September release about parents, played by Tommy Lee Jones and Susan Sarandon, who attempt to find their son after he returns from the war in Iraq.

Tribeca Festival Opens with Gore

Tribeca Festival Opens with GoreThe Tribeca Film Festival began this evening with an opening gala filled with gore, Al Gore that is. He’s all about the environment these days (It’s my guess that he’s moved on since inventing the Internet) and so his speech was all about connecting the entertainment industry to the issue of global warming. Having starred in the film “An Inconvenient Truth,” Al knows a thing or two about the problem.

The six day Tribeca Film Festival was founded after the September 11th attacks on New York as a way to rejuvenate Lower Manhattan. This year they premiered nine films by Save Our Selves, all of them about the climate change crisis. It seems to me that this is the new fad amongst our celebrities. I’m just amazed at how many of them have bought it. Give them a couple years, and they will be harping on the eroding beaches in Zimbabwe or some such. I guess no one likes to stand alone in political activism, but it’s the same with drinking.
