At her concert in Nurnberg, Germany last Thursday night, Pink was getting ready to perform the final song ‘So What’ when she wasn’t properly fastened in to a harness that was supposed to take her up in the air for some fancy flying work. Instead, the pop rock singer was flung into the barricade in the front of the stage real hard. Pink was rushed to the hospital by an ambulance after the show and miraculously avoided any serious injuries. Pink took to her Twitter to say “Ok all my lovers out there- nothings broken, no fluid in the lungs, just seriously sore. I made that barricade my b*tch!!!! Thanx nurnberg:”
Daltrey speaking to Billboard said that they are meaning to begin the tour in the second half of 2011. In contrast to his older belief that they will die before they get old, Daltrey now thinks that the role of an artist is to go on and on until he can’t do it anymore. He also said that they want to incorporate in their tour some parts of their 1973 rock opera Quadrophenia. They will probably do some updates, because they haven’t performed the songs since 1994. The bands last tour was in 2007 and they are very anxious about this upcoming tour.
Courtney Love was a wreck at Hole’s Washington DC concert this past Sunday. Not only did the rock singer take the stage an hour late, but she also spent a minute rambling and smoking while explaining the reason as to why she was late. Apparently, she was hanging out with a senator. Then, Courtney introduced her assistant who was in front of her onstage the entire time, filming the show on an iPhone. Concert attendees said that Courtney played to the camera more than to her fans. Then there were longer times of rambling than singing, name dropping celebrities, forgot lyrics when she did sing, offended concertgoers and even asked someone for a bra. All in all, a very weird show.
Sandra Bullock made a surprise appearance at the Nashville Rising concert for flood relief.
The crowd went crazy as the 45 year-old walked on stage to introduce country music star Faith Hill, wife of her Blind Side co-star Tim McGraw.
The soon-to-be-divorced actress revealed that when McGraw approached her about participating in the benefit, she jumped at the chance to get involved.
“When they told me how much you all contributed, I realised I really had to do more than be funny. So, I’m going to contribute some music and do it Nashville style,” Bullock said, according to USweekly.com.
To the audience’s surprise, Bullock then pulled up a stool, whipped out an acoustic guitar and attempted to play Deep Purple’s Smoke on the Water. However, after just a few bars, Bullock confessed she was a terrible guitarist and introduced Hill, whom she described as “disgustingly beautiful” and “extraordinary”.
Lauryn Hill has been added to the lineup for this year’s ‘Rock the Bells’ festival along with A Tribe Called Quest, DJ Premiere, Snoop Dogg, Sweet Sweeper Social Club, Slick Rick and Wu Tang Clan. The R&B singer’s set was supposedly prepared exclusively for the event and is said to span her entire career, including hits from ‘The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill’ and her work with the Fugees. The four-date tour stops in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York and Washington DC in late August. I’m not holding my breath that she’ll show up. She’s got quite a while to think of an excuse not to.
Ludacris apparently loved the stage at the Hot 97 Summer Jams concert this past Sunday. Organizers were apparently cutting music acts that went overtime by turning off their microphones. However, even that didn’t stop the rapper. A source said “He kept rapping a cappella when they cut off his juice. Finally, they decided to turn it back on. There really wasn’t any other choice, because he wasn’t getting off the stage.” What do you think? Should he have left the stage when asked or was it cool that he stayed? From a fan’s point of view, I think it’s great because he just gave me my money’s worth.
It looks like the people in Mexico don’t really like Paul McCartney that much… either that or they like him too much. It seems that that after a recent concert of his over there, the singer’s tour bus got attacked and had to be relieved by the local police. This is what a source related about Paul McCartney’s situation: “At first his security team thought it was just swarms of fans but when people started scaling the bus, the situation changed in a flash. Paul and the team were shaken up.” Well, that’s what you get for being famous… he got lucky though, it could’ve been a lot worse had the fans let their passions for Paul McCartney’s tour bus get ahead of them.
It looks like the new immigration law in Arizona is really having some negative repercussions to the music industry… and to some fans as well, probably. Rapper Pitbull has recently cancelled the concert he was scheduled to do on the 31st of May in Phoenix and he explained why on his twitter account: “I am cancelling my concert in Phoenix on May 31… How is the country we enjoy and love bcuz of its human rights, freedom, opportunity and that has been built by immigrants, now start 2 deny them?? …It is contradicting 2 everything the USA stands 4.” Not that canceling the concert doesn’t get Pitbull’s message across, but it would also help a lot if the man tried a bit to type in English, or was that part of the protest too?
Kelly Clarkson’s controversial Indonesia concert will go on without a sponsor. The American Idol alum’s April 29th concert was supposed to be sponsored by cigarette brand LA Lights but after reaching an agreement with the brand’s parent company Djarum , promoter Adrie Subono told the Associated Press that “there will be no [L.A. Lights] media promotion at the Kelly Clarkson concert”. ABC News notes that Alicia Keys was involved in a similar predicament two years ago when she learned that her show in Indonesia was sponsored by a Philip Morris affiliate. The singer insisted that the logo be removed from her promotional materials and performed the show once it was free of the cigarette sponsorship.
The dates for Adam Lambert’s Glam Nation Tour have been announced. The glam rock singer promised a lot of theatrics to make for an exciting show. Fellow American Idol alum Allison Iraheta and Orianthi will join Adam as opening acts. The tour kicked off this past April 15 in Los Angeles and will wrap up on August 13 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. There are 11 more concert stops between those two dates. There’s not a lot of shows to pick from so I think he’s playing it safe. It’s pretty obvious that he’s not going to sell out big venues and there’s really not that much interest in him anyway.
Susan Boyle has cancelled her Australian tour so that she can rest before recording her follow up album to the international success ‘I Dreamed a Dream’. The singer’s representatives think that she needs a breather after the rigorous promo tours in the US and Japan before going back into the studio. The YouTube sensation’s manager said “Regrettably, we have had to make the tough decision to postpone our Australian visit for the Logies in May. We want to apologize to all Susan’s Australian fans and look forward to coming to Australia later in the year.” Sony Music might be using this time to get the record out by November to capitalize on the Christmas season.
Whitney Houston has been forced to postpone three more concert dates on the European leg of her world tour because the singer has been hospitalized in France. It was reported that the troubled diva was suffering from an upper respiratory infection. It’s called chronic rhinopharyngitis, a swelling of mucus membranes in the nose and pharynx. A spokesperson from RCA says “With great disappointment, Whitney Houston has postponed her first three concerts in the UK due to illness. Doctors visited Whitney late last night in Paris and confirmed that she was suffering from an upper respiratory infection. Upon medical advice Whitney has been advised that she cannot perform to allow her time to recover.” The shows she’s missing have been reschedules for May and June. Get well soon Whitney!
After taking a 4-year break, the Dixie Chicks are heading out for a North American Tour. The country band, along with The Eagles and Keith Urban will be touring together for the first time for a stadium concert tour. The tour kicks off on June 8th at the Rogers Centre in Toronto and wraps up on June 24th at the Busch Stadium in St. Louis. I can’t believe it ends that fast? That seems like it’s just a promo tour. Mind you, Keith will not be performing in Toronto, Winnipeg and St. Louis. If it weren’t for The Eagles, I wouldn’t even bother with this.
Despite reports that the diva couldn’t handle the workload of her ‘Nothing but Love’ tour, Whitney Houston is apparently back on her game in Australia and being a wonderful mom to boot. During her Wednesday concert, the singer announced that it was her daughter Bobbi Kristina’s 17th birthday and dedicated the song ‘Who Would Imagine a King’ to her. A source said “[It's] one of Krissy’s favorites, and is not in the show.” Whitney then got her daughter and a cake on stage and sang ‘Happy Birthday’ along with the audience. Isn’t that sweet? Kudos to Whitney for thinking up a great surprise and actually doing a good show.
Sources have confirmed that Robbie Williams and the other guys of Take That have completed five tracks off their new album. With those tracks laid out, it is likely that a new album could be out by the end of this year. However, there is one other announcement the source made that might put you into a foul mood. As of now, the band has no intention to tour in support of the new album. In fact, they may not even make any public appearances at all. That’s definitely a big bummer. But at least there’s some new music to look forward to.
It looks like Lady GaGa is running a bit short on ideas as to how to make her concerts more… special. So she’s decided that the best thing to do in this situation would be to wear a fake penis on the show. This is what Lady GaGa said about her new idea: “I want to wear a dick strapped to my vagina. We all know that one of the biggest talking points of the year was that I have a dick, so why not give them what they want? I also carry myself onstage in a masculine way and sing in a low register. This is not of nowhere, right? I want to comment on that in a beautiful, artistic way. How I wanna show it. And I want to call this piece ‘Lady Gaga Dies Hard.’ Come on, come see me try to persuade everyone to let me wear a penis.” Now it’s probably just a matter of time before Lady GaGa starts showing up with the real thing. The gauntlet has been thrown…
It seems that she’s actually trying to establish a new record. Beyonce’s last concert almost met with a bit of an embarrassing accident as he high-heels slipped on the stage almost leading to the fall of this grand star. But Beyonce’s shows wouldn’t be worth so much money if she weren’t able to make even the most embarrassing looking accident look like a stage move. To the untrained eye, Beyonce’s little tumble might have seemed like a performance gimmick. This must be why she has so many fans, especially so many well paying fans that just shower her with big plump checks.
‘Glee’ star Cory Monteith recently took to his Twitter to announce some amazing news! The actor wrote “there is going to be a live #glee concert tour! in select cities; limited appearances. announcement and details soon. so excited!!!” I can’t wait for that one! That’s a very good way for us fans to be satiated until the hit TV series returns to the small screen in April. I wonder if each member of the cast gets a solo performance. If so, I hope Matthew Morrison gets to perform songs from his upcoming album. And I can’t wait for that one to drop too!
George Clooney has revealed the line-up for his charity telethon will include performances from Bono, Sting, Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera and Alicia Keys.
Clooney said that more than 40 celebrities are expected to attend the “Hope for Haiti” event on January 22.
He added that the aim of the benefit is “to show the people of Haiti that the whole world is paying attention”.
He said: “We’re doing a telethon on all the channels, every network in the country and international as well. It’s an unbelievable show. Bono’s written a song for it and songs are going to available on iTunes that night.
“People in Haiti have absolutely nothing. There are times when, as bad as it is for many people in this country, people also realise how much worse it is for them and they are very compassionate.”
During her Breakaway tour back in 2005, a guitarist on Kelly Clarkson’s show named Dwayne has his ass handed back to him by the original American Idol in front of a packed house. Years later and this video has just surfaced for all of us to be entertained. This is the most amazing thing I’ve seen her do. Though there’s not much of a clue what exactly it is that the guy did, if you watch the video, it’s clear that the singer got pissed off so much that she fired him on stage, mid-song and she didn’t even miss a beat.
