Lily Allen VS Courtney Love

Posted on Mar 04, 2010 under Award, Courtney Love, LifeStyle, Lilly Allen | No Comment

While at the NME Awards in London last week, Lily Allen and Courtney Love apparently had a showdown over clothes. According to the Hole rocker, the British train wreck of a singer insisted that no other celebrity wear Chanel at the awards since Lily has an exclusive deal with the brand. Courtney decided to confront Lily and according to sources, got nasty with Lily. Things got so bad that their entourages had to get involved to pull them apart. To make things worse, Courtney went to her Twitter to say “Pretty darn rich coming from someone who starts nonsensical fights with people out of insecure jealousy on a weekly basis. At least when I’ve started fights with people its because they fuck w my kid or fuck w my $. No further comment, hatred is not my drink, I don’t like jealousy, vindictiveness, stalkers, selfishness and dishonesty, that’s just me!”

Air Force Pulls White Stripes Ad

Posted on Feb 12, 2010 under Award, Music | No Comment

When the White Stripes threatened legal action for what they assumed was an illegal re-recording of their song used in a recruitment commercial for the Air Force, the military did something they’re definitely not used to – they backed down. The director of public affairs for the Air Force Reserve Command said “The Air Force Reserve commissioned an original piece of music for its one-time, 30-second Super Bowl regional advertisement As soon as we realized there was a question about our ad, we immediately pulled it and have no plan to re-use it. Our goal was only to attract the best and brightest Americans to become Citizen Airmen. We had no intention to use existing music from the White Stripes or any other performer. Any similarity to them or other artists was certainly not intentional.”

Mariah Carey’s dizzy award

Posted on Jan 09, 2010 under Alcohol, Award, Mariah Carey | No Comment

It seems Mariah Carey has really taken her diva status to the next level. While receiving the award for people’s choice best R&B artist, when she got on stage, there was something pretty strange about Mariah Carey. You could’ve sworn she had drunk too much. Apparently, this is not even the first but the second time Mariah Carey pulls a stunt like this. Looks like somebody’s been having a bit too many martinis but at least her speeches are fun to watch. She seems a lot friendlier like that, maybe deep down inside, Mariah Carey is not as big of a diva as she so desperately tries to prove to be.

MTV Video Music Awards host Russell Brand said he “cut back on controversy” at this year’s show.

The British comic presented the event for the second year in the row and said he went for a lighter tone this year.

Talking on his way to an after-party, he told British newspaper The Sun: “I’m buzzing. It was fantastic.

“I threw this one in – we English have a different grasp of language. You say truck, we say lorry. You say elevator, we say lift. You let people die on the streets, we have the National Health Service. I cut back on controversy this year.”

Meryl Streep gives entertaining SAG speech

Posted on Jan 28, 2009 under Actress, Award | No Comment

Meryl Streep won not only the Screen Actors Guild Best Actress Award but also the admiration of her peers after she delivered an entertaining speech. Streep, who won for her portrayal of Sister Aloysius Beauvier in the movie “Doubt”, was so thrilled and disbelieving when her name was called that she waved her arms in the air from her seat to the stage. She even gave presenter Ralph Fiennes a smack on the lips. Streep, who was given a standing ovation by the audience, apologized for not even buying a dress—she was wearing black trousers for the event.

The 59-year old Streep jokingly said she was shocked and happy even if awards do not mean anything to her anymore. She has been nominated for the SAG eleven times but this is only the second time she has won the SAG Award, the first time in 2004. Streep has gained a reputation for being the world’s greatest actress but she juts laughed this off saying “there’s no such thing as the best actress”. She said women in the industry, nominated or not, should be proud for the work they did this year saying everybody wins when they get to play such parts. 1

Madonna denies marriage rift

Madonna has vehemently denied reports her marriage to Guy Ritchie is on the rocks.

The 49-year-old pop star’s representative issued a statement insisting the couple, who have been married for seven years, couldn’t be happier following various reports they live separate lives and are on the verge of splitting.

Liz Rosenberg, Madonna’s US spokeswoman, said: “I am delighted to confirm that Mr. and Mrs. Guy Ritchie remain happily married. Though they were in different countries recently – Madonna in the US promoting her upcoming album ‘Hard Candy’ and Guy finishing up post-production on his new film ‘RocknRolla’ as well as completing a Nike commercial and working on several scripts in England – the family are joyfully back together at home in London. All is well and wonderful in the Ritchie household.”

Rumours suggesting the couple’s union is in trouble have been rife for several months. They have not been pictured together since January 8, when on a trip to India. Speculation intensified when Guy, 39, was noticeably absent from Madonna’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in New York.

According to reports, the couple – who have a seven-year-old son Rocco, an adopted son David, two, and an 11-year-old daughter Lourdes from Madonna’s previous relationship – have been living like “brother and sister” rather than husband and wife and have even divided their London home into two separate living quarters.

A source said: “The marriage is hanging by a thread. No one doubts they adore their three kids – but the children seem to be the only reason they are living this strange loveless existence.”

It was also suggested Madonna was intending to move back to the US with the children, while Guy would remain in the UK.

Amy Winehouse for Blake

Amy Winehouse is still sticking by her man despite months and months apart. Wino and hubby Blake Fielder-Civil are still trying to make it work. The singer paid a visit to her incarcerated husband at Pentonville Prison on Monday, most likely to tell him about her multiple Grammy wins.

Amy has checked out of rehab this past weekend but her publicists are insisting that she is still being looked after. She’s still under medical supervision and the treatment continues. The only difference is that she is an outpatient now. On Tuesday morning, Wino’s mom Janis appeared on TV to talk about her daughter saying “she’s definitely on the way back”.

Amy Winehouse Becomes an Osbourne

Amy Winehouse Becomes an Osbourne

You know, if you need help beating your addictions, why not move in with one of the most famous addicts of them all. That’s what Amy Winehouse thinks will help.

Amy is moving in with buddies Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne in their London guesthouse. Amy is close friends with rehab-buddy Kelly Osbourne.

As for Amy’s supposed Grammy performance, the U.S. Embassy in Britain refused to grant her request for a visa, so any performance she gives will have to be via satellite.

Kylie Minogue to have Happy New Year

Kylie Minogue

You would be looking forward to the New Year too if you were Kylie Minogue. She has learned she’ll pick up an Order of the British Empire (OBE) medal after landing a place on Queen Elizabeth II’s New Year Honours List. The 39-year-old cancer survivor is loved worldwide, and although native Australian she has been in her adopted Britain for more than 20 years.

Personally I can’t think of anyone better to receive the honour. She is a fab artist; keeping up with the times with class and style – though perhaps in a few dodgy outfits. And after her courageous battle with breast cancer she has come out the other side with a smile on her face and a determination to return to her career. A big ‘hurrah!’ for Kylie Minogue.

Thanksgiving in China for Paris

Thanksgiving in China for Paris

Paris Hilton spent her Thanksgiving in a quite un-American way, touring Shanghai, China, for the MTV Style Awards.

She spent a great deal of time shopping along the Bund waterfront, even taking a break to try on several dresses by Chinese designer Lu Kun, who is one of Shanghai’s hottest fashion designers.

At one point, Paris stopped for a press conference in front of the Hyatt on the waterfront, one of Shanghai’s newest landmarks. She said, “Shanghai looks like the future!”

Another highlight of her trip was a stop at Yu Yuan Garden where she sampled Shanghai’s steam buns and flower tea.

Today was part of a two day tour planned for Paris. On Friday, the heiress turned reality star turned author turned singer turned perfume deigned heads to the awards celebration for Chinese style and fashion.

Forget the turkey – pass the duck a la Shanghai!

Jessica Simpson Honors Country Star

Jessica Simpson was at the 2007 CMT Giants Tribute event in Los Angeles on Thursday where she helped to honor legendary country star Hank Williams Jr. The CMT Giants franchise started last year when they honored Reba McEntire for her stellar career.

This year’s tribute featured performances by Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley, Kid Rock, Gretchen Wilson, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Buddy Guy. Jimmy Kimmel and Terry Bradshaw were also there to present.

Jessica may end up getting honored one day as she plans to release a country album in the near future. Lord help country. At the very least she’s getting some help from the likes of Willie Nelson and not Bobby Brown.

Hilary Duff arrived at LAX airport looking mighty stylish on Thursday. Wearing Chanel flats, leading a cart of Louis Vuitton bags and leaving in a dark SUV, Hilary was the epitome of Hollywood.

Later in the evening, the singer/actress hosted The City of 2007 Hope Spirit of Life Awards Dinner which honored Buena Vista Music Group Chairman Bob Cavallo. The BVMG includes Hollywood Records which is Hilary’s label and also releases records for Aly & AJ, Jesse McCartney, Raven Symone and Vanessa Hudgens. Hollywood Records should have been Disney Kids Records instead.

Anyway. A day later, Hilary celebrated her 20th birthday. Happy birthday to Hilary!
