Lady GaGa is not appreciated in all circles
Posted on Mar 16, 2010 under Lady Gaga, Video | 2 CommentsIt appears that some are not so easily amazed by what Lady GaGa always brings to the table in matters of music and music videos. Famous director and filmmaker Michel Gondry recently commented on the pop star’s work. This is part of what he had to say: “And I don’t see it. Her melodies are very conventional. I remember when my friend and I would argue about Killing Joke. I remember him saying, ‘It’s so great!’ But I said, ‘It’s so conventional! How can you find anything original? It’s just surface!’ I don’t know, maybe the comparison is ridiculous. But the melody was very, very flat. That’s probably why they are famous. But maybe it’s considered high art just because of the way she dresses?” He might’ve hit the nail on the button there… of course it wouldn’t have hurt to mention the “sex is art” philosophy and all of the penis-related complexes, but Michel Gondry seems to be right about Lady GaGa.

From what experience tells us any pretty non-conventional artist, like Lady Gaga is, is bound to face some critics on her way. Now, after reading this article, I have to wonder though, maybe I’ve been to hooked by the way she dresses, by the glamour her shows have and not stopped to think on her songs to much, the way in which they really sound. But Flat is definitely not the word I would use to describe them
