It seems that she too has realized that she might not exactly be setting the best of examples for those who admire her. So, what to do in such cases? Change her ways? No! Miley Cyrus decided it best for her not to take any more responsibility in what the younger minds see in her: “My job is to be a role model, and that’s what I want to do, but my job isn’t to be a parent. My job isn’t to tell your kids how to act or how not to act, because I’m still figuring that out for myself. So to take that way from me is a bit selfish. Your kids are going to make mistakes whether I do or not. That’s just life.” Well, Miley Cyrus’ little sister is probably the perfect example of how good a role model she actually is.
It seems that Taylor Swift’s success just doesn’t stop for anything… she most likely has Kanye West to thank for that one, though, he’s the one that really rocketed her to fame. Her latest achievement is breaking Britney Spears’ record for best download debut by a female artist with her track “Today was a fairytale”. Apparently the song is also featured on the soundtrack of Taylor Swift’s acting debut, “Valentine’s Day”. Well, well, looks like the future belongs to Taylor Swift, doesn’t it? Kanye West is no longer the voice of the generation… that must steam him up a bit.
Many might be wondering how come Lady GaGa’s music has had such booming effect in such a short time. Pink is here to put all lack of clarity to rest… at least regarding Lady GaGa’s hit single, “Poker Face”. This is what Pink said to Rolling Stone regarding the song: “Poker Face has the Rihanna Umbrella effect. It stays in your head, sometimes annoyingly.” Well, somebody had to come out and say it… thankfully it was Pink. Now she can take all of the heat for it. After all, none of her songs ever had the success of those of Lady GaGa’s.
At France’s top music awards show, the NRJ Awards in Cannes this past weekend, choreographer Kamel Ouali mistakenly presented the award for best international group to the Black Eyed Peas when the award was actually for German band Tokio Hotel. He told the crowd that the hip hop group was taking home the prize but came back a few minutes later to admit his mistake. Someone needs to get their act together over at the NRJ. The same thing happened last year to Katy Perry who was given the award for best international song when the award was actually meant for Rihanna.
The Enquirer is reporting that Nick Lachey is pretty hard up for cash after his new album has been put on hold indefinitely. The singer was expecting a big pay day from his new album but since there’s no release date in sight and all of his money is tied up in the project, things are looking pretty grim with his bank account. Apparently, that’s why Nick has been picking up hosting gigs just to get some extra cash. Well, that’s certainly not going to be enough to pay for that big wedding that Vanessa Minnillo wants for them. Maybe they can get a reality show deal for that.
Mel B has said all five of the Spice Girls are “super excited” about a musical to celebrate the band’s music.
The 34-year-old was one fifth of the hit band, which hit the big time in the late 90s, along with Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton, Mel C and Geri Halliwell.
It was recently announced that a musical is being developed by their former manager Simon Fuller and Mamma Mia! producer Judy Craymer based on their hits.
Mel B said to UK magazine Hello!: “All five of us are really super excited. We don’t do anything unless all five agree.
“All of us loved Mamma Mia! We needed someone who would have a great vision alongside ours.”
Boyzone singer Stephen Gately died while at his holiday home in Majorca three months ago and it has been determined by a pathologist that he passed away due to natural causes. The late pop star had been drinking heavily and smoking marijuana shortly before he passed but neither of those factors were attributed to the cause of death. The autopsy revealed that Stephen had an undiagnosed hearth condition that thickened his arteries causing cardiac arrest and ultimately his death. There were no signs of violence or foul play. With this information, I hope the family and friends that he left behind can finally find peace.
Jane Lynch, also known as Sue Sylvester on ‘Glee’, will be performing ‘Vogue’ for the show’s Madonna-centric episode. This is the first time that the actress will be singing on the show, unless of course an episode airs before this one where she sings. What a way to debut right? Jane talked about the performance saying “I’m going to be singing the song and doing a video for it. It’s going to be so much fun!” I can’t wait to see that performance. You can bet that she won’t be doing that song in a simple track suit. I wonder what the story tie in would be.
Last week Simon Cowell embarked on the endeavor of making a mega-hit single that would help the victims of the Haiti earthquakes. And what mega-hit single could even be a hit if Mariah Carey wasn’t singing on it. So the music lord pulled a few strings and he got Mariah Carey to participate in his grand design. This is what Simon Cowell said on the matter: “We’re getting there. We have had an incredible amount of support. It’s amazing these great singers are clearing their schedules to make this happen. I just found out Mariah has changed her schedule to be able to do this too. It says such a lot that everyone is working so hard to help Haiti. This is something that really matters to us all and I’m so grateful for the support we are getting.” Well, if Mariah Carey actually cleared her schedule than it really is a big deal. But then again, Simon Might just get the chance to regret that she’ll be there to do her part too.
It seems that the singer’s fabled 2008 Video Music Awards dress is going to be auctioned and the proceeds will be going to the Haiti relief fund. But bear in mind, this is no ordinary dress! Britney Spears won three awards that faithful day wearing this same dress. It’s practically and ancient artifact by now and unthinkable powers shall befall he who manages to get his grubby little paws on it. After all, Britney Spears is no ordinary human being, but a legend among legends. So it should cash in quite a hefty price, especially if those invited to do the bidding are the right people.
Everyone’s British train wreck got off easy after being charged with assault at a Christmas show back in December. Amy Winehouse pleaded guilty to drunkenly assaulting a theater manager and the judge ordered the singer to pay 185 pounds to the victim as well as slapping her with a conditional discharge. While it seems that she got off easy, it could actually prove to be the hardest punishment for Wino as under the conditional discharge, she must avoid trouble with the law for 2 years of she will be punished further. I highly doubt that Wino would be on the straight and narrow for 2 years.
Courtney Love wants to be someone’s mother but not to her actual child Frances Bean. On her Twitter, the washed up rock singer said that she wanted to be a mother and mentor to Ke$ha in order to save her from the “jaws of impermanence and soul death.” I don’t even know what she’s talking about. Maybe she should consider saving herself first before she goes to move onto saving someone else who seems to be doing just fine without her help. I know that Ke$ha is a rebel but I think she’s smart enough to stay away from Courtney.
After her extremely, amazingly generous donation for relieving the victims of the earthquakes in Haiti, Madonna is not yet done with her part of helping as she will be performing on George Clooney’s telethon along with other great names of the musical industry. Hopefully this will encourage people to donate even more by themselves while Madonna simply puts on a free show… if it even is free. But who would dare actually ask to get paid to do a telethon? Well, the producers certainly… and maybe even Mariah Carey, but not Madonna. Never Madonna, she has to big a heart!
‘Glee’ star Cory Monteith recently took to his Twitter to announce some amazing news! The actor wrote “there is going to be a live #glee concert tour! in select cities; limited appearances. announcement and details soon. so excited!!!” I can’t wait for that one! That’s a very good way for us fans to be satiated until the hit TV series returns to the small screen in April. I wonder if each member of the cast gets a solo performance. If so, I hope Matthew Morrison gets to perform songs from his upcoming album. And I can’t wait for that one to drop too!
But it was all a pleasant surprise it seems. The singer attended Bette Midler’s Las Vegas show together with Carey Hart, but she made quite the entrance at the show. Rather than just going in like a quiet little spectator and just enjoying the show, Pink thought she’d do something else and popped-up on stage when Bette Midler was singing and the two did a duet on a song. You’d think most would feel offended by something like this, but not Bette Midler. She just welcomed Pink with open arms and shared her stage. After all, the showbiz must go on!
Simon Cowell has just become Britain’s first billion dollar television earner.
Cowell signed a mega-entertainment deal with Sony to take the hit show The X Factor on the road to Las Vegas.
Cowell, who quit American Idol for the X Factor deal, said: “I have had a fantastic relationship with Sony for many years and I’m delighted we are launching this venture together.”
The top-earning television star in the US is now on track to make £500million ($816million) in the next two years on the back of the sale of The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent formats, the UK Mirror reports.
Cowell, 50, and The X Factor have churned out such real-flesh sensations as Leona Lewis, Alexandra Burke and Susan Boyle.
Boyle, aka SuBo, has achieved the astonishing feat of making the fastest-selling album in history.
Cowell will also sign an ITV deal worth a further £10million in the next 10 days.
Ged Doherty, the chief of Sony in the UK, said Cowell was an “inspiring and stimulating business partner”.
Just because you get a #1 album in the UK and the US doesn’t mean that you get any special treatment. It seems that Susan Boyle will not get a nomination for the Brit Awards this year and it’s all Simon Cowell’s fault. According to The Daily Mail, the snub is a veiled attack on the music mogul. A source says “She’s not even shortlisted for Best Female, even though that’s usually the weakest category. And it’s not just an attack on Susan. It also shows how Simon Cowell is regarded by many in the record business. It’s disgusting. She has done more for the British record industry this year than anyone else. The problem for the Brits is they’re supposed to be a celebration of British music – and cool. And, whatever anyone thinks of Susan Boyle, she certainly isn’t cool.” Like there’s anything cooler than bringing your country recognition.
US actor Jared Leto has recalled memories of the ‘magical time’ that he spent in Haiti as a child.
The 38-year-old moved to the Caribbean country with his mum and brother when he was just 12 years old.
His mum helped to run two medical clinics for around a year before they headed back to the US.
He said: “I tend to keep my life stories to myself. You’ve got to keep some things for yourself. You can’t give everything away.”
However, he added: “It was a magical time. Could you imagine being a kid in such an exotic place? It was eye-opening. It was a life-changing experience.
“They have such a strong spirit and a wonderful culture and joy, even in the midst of all the struggles they have gone through.”
There’s no question that Courtney Love is insane especially after she’s decided that she actually wants to sue the temporary guardians of her daughter Frances Bean. The washed up rock singer took to her Twitter to give her skewed reasoning behind the threat of a lawsuit saying “this shit with the bean needs to be exposed for what it is right fucking NOW enough. they squeesed my bank accounts so that they were frozen because they know im going to sue the holy shit out of them and now are … crocodiling my kid whose better than this seriously she was raised too well to be bought. im severely lonely without my best friend and no am not on drugs BTW.”
Katie Holmes marvelled at her daughter Suri’s growing up – fast.
“She’s doing really well. She’s growing up really, really fast,” Holmes said during a brief appearance at a party at the Chateau Marmont with her husband, Tom Cruise.
Holmes said her daughter talks at a rate of knots and is spectacular. “She is magical.”
Suri, 3, has been eating up the cameras during spells in Melbourne, Australia and Boston, Massachusetts while her high-flying actor parents complete their respective film projects.
Holmes said she and Cruise have travelled of late, making it “great to be out”. Holmes appeared in a chic, cutting-edge outfit, while Tom wore jeans in photos that surfaced. The discreet pair turned up to support friends that included Ben Stiller, Shirley MacLaine, Chace Crawford, Ashley Olsen, Jared Leto, Adam Lambert, Lindsay Lohan and Woody Harrelson.
