Late pop legend Michael Jackson requested in his will that his mother Katherine be made guardian of his three children – and nominated fellow music icon, Diana Ross, as his second choice to take care of them.
The Thriller superstar wanted diva Diana to look after Prince, 12, Paris, 11, and Blanket, seven, if Katherine died before him or could not serve as their guardian.
His will – filed on Wednesday with a Los Angeles court – states: “If any of my children are minors at the time of my death, I nominate my mother Katherine Jackson as guardian of the persons and estates of such minor children.
“If Katherine Jackson fails to survive me, or is unable or unwilling to act as guardian, I nominate Diana Ross as guardian of the persons and estates of such minor children.”
The five-page will leaves everything to the Michael Jackson Family Trust.
Details of the trust are confidential, but it is understood to provide for Jackson’s children and mother. Money from his estate will also be distributed among several charities.
The will does not specifically exclude Jackson’s father Joe, as had been rumoured.
A petition filed along with the will says Jackson’s estate is worth more than $500million.
Jackson also named his lawyer John Branca, music executive John McClain, and the star’s accountant Barry Siegel as executors of his will.
Siegel resigned from his role as executor in 2003.
Kate Moss and pal Beth Ditto impressed music boss Simon Cowell by performing an impromptu duet, it has been claimed.
Kate, 35, attended the launch of Beth’s plus-size clothing range for Evans at London club Sketch.
The pals then got up and performed a duet on karaoke game Singstar in the area’s VIP section.
An onlooker said: “Kate and Beth spotted Singstar, grabbed the mics and sung Space Oddity by David Bowie. They were both really going for it.
“The funniest thing was at the end of the song when it flashed up on the screen who had hit more of the right notes, it turned out Kate had done better than Beth!
“Everyone was clapping and cheering her and she was loving it.”
X Factor judge Simon Cowell, 49, and Topshop and Evans boss Sir Philip Green, 57, were watching the performance from the back of the room.
The source added: “Simon and Sir Philip were entranced by Beth and Kate singing and couldn’t stop smiling and laughing to themselves.
“Afterwards, Kate went over to speak to them and Simon congratulated her on her performance.”
Michael Jackson’s British bodyguard Matt Fiddes has claimed the star had a secret girlfriend.
Jackson died suddenly in LA on June 25 after he reportedly suffered a heart attack. Fiddes met Jackson 10 years ago after they were introduced through mutual friend Uri Gellar.
Talking about a girlfriend, Fiddes said: “I’m not going to name who she is but I think the family were aware that there was someone special in his life who he loves and adores and had his ups and downs with.
“I don’t know how long they’ve been a couple. I know she’s been with him for some time in different capabilities but… it’s up to her if she wants it to come out or the family to speak about this very private information.”
