The fervent wish of fans who are be dying to see Catherine Zeta-Jones and Hugh Jackman together has finally been granted last weekend not in a movie or a musical but right at the Sony Pictures Los Angeles lot where they hosted “A Fine Romance”, an event that honored the best screen and stage shows in the past.

The appearance of both Zeta-Jones and Jackman as co-hosts of the said event has only flamed the still unconfirmed reports that the two are indeed pairing up for a big-budgeted musical. Sources are adamant that negotiations for the screen adaptation of Cleopatra are already underway but both Jackman and Zeta-Jones are mum about it.

The 3D film about Cleopatra, Antony and Caesar, which is also set in the 1920s much like Zeta-Jones’ “Chicago”, will reportedly be directed by Steven Soderbergh. The 1962 Cleopatra movie, which starred Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton and Rex Harrison, is known to be the most famous Cleopatra. The highly-budgeted film flopped in the box office but earned a best picture nomination and even got four Oscar Awards.

While the camps of Jackman and Zeta-Jones are keeping things hush-hush their fans can still enjoy their movies albeit separately—with Zeta Jones in “The Rebound” and Jackman in “Australia”.
