David Bowie thinks Scarlett Johansson’s voice is “mystical”.

The legendary singer provides backing vocals on two tracks for Scarlett’s upcoming album of Tom Waits covers, ‘Anywhere I Lay My Head’, and says the actress stunned him with her talent.

In a posting on his official website, he wrote: “The songs are great, really good Tom Waits stuff, and Scarlett’s performances are mystical and cool. She creates a mood that could have been summoned by someone like the novelists Margery Latimer or Jeanette Winterson.”

David also insists his contribution to the record isn’t as big as the hype. He added: “I’ve seen the press on the album and I suppose the record company wanted to spin my involvement a little more than it actually warrants. All I really contribute are these oo’s and ah’s on a couple of tracks. David Sitek, the producer, originally asked me to do three songs, but for one of them, ‘I Don’t Wanna Grow Up’, I didn’t feel I could contribute much to it, so I left it alone.”

The veteran star isn’t the only one to be impressed with Scarlett’s vocal styling. The actress recently revealed Tom Waits himself had been complimentary about her voice. She said: “Tom Waits’ melodies are so beautiful and his voice is so distinct. I sent him some of my early recordings, and he said, ‘Go ahead.’ I’ve heard he’s very pleased.”

A federal judge ruled today that there is no reason to move Britney’s case to federal court. He rejected the civil rights challenge in regards to her conservatorship case. Instead, he allowed her father Jamie Spears to continued to maintain control of her estate.

U.S. District Judge Philip Gutierrez also sent a challenge to Jon Eardley who claims to be Britney’s representation. “Mr. Eardley fails to explain why he can bring this claim for her in the first instance. He cannot. Mr. Eardley had no authority to remove the case from state court. He is neither a party or a defendant. While he claims to be Ms. Spears’ attorney, the probate court…found that she was incapable of retaining her own counsel.”

As more and more Hollywood ladies announce that they are expecting, it can be hard to keep up. Jon Stewart had an amusing take on the whole situation at Sunday night’s Oscar ceremony.

He gave a shoutout to the expectant mothers in the audience, including Jessica Alba and Cate Blanchett. He then announced, in a presenter voice, “and the baby goes to…Angelina Jolie!”

He went on, “Obviously Angelina couldn’t be with us tonight. It’s tough getting 17 babysitters on Oscar night.”

Alecia Beth Moore, more famously known as Pink, recently reached out to her friends and fans to talk about her divorce from freestyle biker hubby Carey Hart. She posted a message on her official website saying thanks for all the support. She also talks about the reason for their split and clears that it’s not due to cheating, anger or fighting. She also says that, while it’s cliché, she and Carey remain best friends and asks that her fans support Carey in his endeavors as much as they do in her endeavors. A reconciliation isn’t being ruled out either as Pink says “One never knows the future, but mine and Carey’s just might involve beach babies and sunshine one day. Just not right now.”

Jennifer Lopez and hubby Marc Anthony are the proud new parents of twins – a boy and a girl.

The Latina star gave birth this morning in Long Island, New York. The girl was born at 12.12am and weighed 5lb 7oz and the boy followed at 12.23am, weighing 6lbs.

J-Lo’s manager, Simon Fields, said: “Jennifer and Marc are delighted, thrilled and over the moon.”

People magazine have reportedly paid the couple $6 million for the photo rights.

Who knows, Ellen might have enjoyed it more than you might think.

Christing Aguilera was on The Ellen DeGeneres Show today, just a month after giving birth to son Max Liron. she was seen in a lovely green dress with a deep plunging neckline. The neckline gave Ellen (and the rest of us) a nice view of the goods, which have increased dramatically in recent weeks.

Ellen asked Christina, “One question: Are you nursing?” Christina Aguilera found the question humorous, answering, “I guess it’s a little obvious.” Ellen’s quip? “He’s gonna be a healthy boy.”

I’m not sure who decided that Lindsay Lohan was the next Marilyn Monroe, but someone chose her to recreate Marilyn’s famous nude photo spread for Bert Stern. Stern himself took the photos of Lindsay between the sheets.

Linsday, who is 21, took the place of then 36 year old Marilyn. Lindsay said, “I was comfortable with [being nude].”

Umm, it’s a good thing, considering we’ve seen it all before!

Christina Aguilera was sure of one thing when she had baby Max. There was no way she was giving birth naturally. As Nicole Richie was giving birth to baby girl Harlow on January 11, Christina was scheduling a C-Section for herself.

She said, “I didn’t want any surprises. I’d heard horror stories about vaginal tearing. I had heard horror stories of women going in and having to have an emergency C-Section anyway.”

She wanted things to be calm and peaceful, so she took matters into her own hands. The downside? The recovery….she said it was more painful than she’d expected and she ended up staying in the hospital for four days.

If you’re tuning into the pop wreck scene, the question on everyone’s mind is if Britney Spears is getting any better. I’m still not sure what the answer is but al signs are pointing to a yes. Britney, whom I hope is still getting treatment for her so-called mental illness, was recently spotted with her mom Lynne as they were shopping in Los Angeles on Tuesday. The once estranged mother-daughter team bonded over clothes at the Miss Sixty store on Melrose before heading over to the Millennium Dance Studios in the Valley.

It’s all looking good for Britney. Let’s hope she really does get back on track.

Amy Winehouse is still sticking by her man despite months and months apart. Wino and hubby Blake Fielder-Civil are still trying to make it work. The singer paid a visit to her incarcerated husband at Pentonville Prison on Monday, most likely to tell him about her multiple Grammy wins.

Amy has checked out of rehab this past weekend but her publicists are insisting that she is still being looked after. She’s still under medical supervision and the treatment continues. The only difference is that she is an outpatient now. On Tuesday morning, Wino’s mom Janis appeared on TV to talk about her daughter saying “she’s definitely on the way back”.

So, how many nurseries do you really need? Apparently, Jennifer Lopez’s twins will need several. She’s decorated her home on Long Island as well as homes in Bel Air and Fisher Island.

The twins will have a nursery decorated in an ocean theme. They will have their very own 18-karat gilded trim and chandeliers.

How much was the bill? Over $120,000. What a life to be born into!

I know you’ve been dying to find out who gets to sit in Barbara Walters’ hot seat on Oscar night. Well, the names have finally been released.

She’ll begin with Miley Cyrus and Oscar nominee Ellen Page (from Juno). Then she’ll move on to veteran Harrison Ford and Vanessa Williams.

Are they prepared for the questions? Who knows? Barbara has yet to reveal what she’ll ask of them.

Did you make it to the box office to see Paris’ movie “The Hottie and the Nottie”? Umm, me neither.

Apparently there weren’t all that many people who did. The romantic comedy starred Paris, Joel David Moore, and Christine Lakin. On Friday, the movie only brought in $9000 on 111 screens.

Seems like people were more ineterested in fools like Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey. Their movie Fools Gold brought in $7.65 million on 3125 screens.

You know, if you need help beating your addictions, why not move in with one of the most famous addicts of them all. That’s what Amy Winehouse thinks will help.

Amy is moving in with buddies Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne in their London guesthouse. Amy is close friends with rehab-buddy Kelly Osbourne.

As for Amy’s supposed Grammy performance, the U.S. Embassy in Britain refused to grant her request for a visa, so any performance she gives will have to be via satellite.

Remember when her engagement to Nick Cannon ended? Nope, neither do we. But now Victoria’s Secret model Selita Ebanks is stepping out with a new man – a Giant of a man, in fact.

After a second memorial service on Saturday, Heath Ledger’s family is ready to take him home. His parents and sister left L.A. and flew to Perth, Australia. They have plans to bury Heath in the family’s burial plot.

Heath’s costar in Brokeback Mountain, and his daughter’s godfather, Jake Gyllenhaal is planning to travel to Perth to attend the private funeral. It has not been said yet if his ex-girlfriend and mother of his child Michelle Williams will go.

Toxicology reports from an autopsy done on Heath may be released as early as tomorrow.

Michelle Williams finally speaks out about the death of ex Heath Ledger. They became a couple in 2005, eventually having a daughter Matilda together.

Pop wreck Britney Spears and constant companion Sam Lutfi got into a really ugly blowout last weekend. Britney and Sam drove up to the gate of her house when the fallen pop star suddenly jumped out of the car crying. Brit’s pap boyfriend Adnan Ghalib said that he got a frantic call from Britney to pick her up but when he got there, he was told in no uncertain terms that he was not allowed to enter the gate saying that the guards were under strict order from Sam to not let him in. Sam is acting more like a jealous wannabe boyfriend rather than a so-called manager. It’s not a pretty sight.
