Peter Jackson Has a Bone to pick with Dreamworks

The Lovely Bones is a beautifully morbid tale about the death of a young girl written by Anne Seybold in 2002. As unlikely as it is, Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson has signed on with Dreamworks to make a movie adaptation of the book. “When you read an emotionally magical story that cries out to be turned into a major motion picture, you hope its winding path can find its way to the door of your own company,” said Steven Spielberg. Peter wanted to make this movie enough that he paid for the movie option himself, and co-wrote a script for it.

Does this mean that there will be little furry-toed hobbits running around dealing with the tragedy of this girl’s death? I don’t think a fellowship will be able to solve this one. Let’s hope Peter is more adaptable than he appears.
